Setup

1. Charging the Battery

The ICD-UX560F/B features a built-in rechargeable battery. Before first use, fully charge the device.

  1. Slide the USB slide switch on the side of the recorder to extend the USB connector.
  2. Connect the USB connector directly to a powered USB port on your computer or a USB AC adapter (not supplied).
  3. The charging indicator will illuminate. Charging is complete when the indicator turns off. A full charge typically takes approximately 3 hours.

Note: The product specifications mention "1 AAA batteries required." This is likely an error in the product data or refers to an optional power source not typically used with this model's built-in rechargeable battery. Rely on the built-in rechargeable battery.

2. Powering On/Off

  • To power on, slide the POWER/HOLD switch upwards and release.
  • To power off, slide the POWER/HOLD switch upwards and hold until the display turns off, then release.
  • To activate the hold function (prevent accidental operation), slide the POWER/HOLD switch downwards to the "HOLD" position.

3. Initial Settings (Language, Date, Time)

Upon first power-on or after a factory reset, you may need to set the language, date, and time. Follow the on-screen prompts using the navigation buttons and the central PLAY/ENTER button.

Operating Instructions

1. Recording Audio

  1. Ensure the recorder is powered on and not in HOLD mode.
  2. Press the REC/PAUSE button (red button) to start recording. The recording indicator will light up, and the recording time will be displayed.
  3. To pause recording, press the REC/PAUSE button again. Press it once more to resume.
  4. To stop recording, press the STOP button. The file will be saved automatically.

Tip: For optimal recording quality, ensure the built-in microphones are not obstructed and the recorder is placed in a stable position. You can also connect an external microphone to the red input jack (Figure 4).

2. Playing Back Recordings

  1. Navigate through your recorded files using the FORWARD and BACKWARD buttons.
  2. Press the central PLAY/ENTER button to start playback of the selected file.
  3. To adjust volume during playback, use the VOL + and VOL - buttons on the side.
  4. To stop playback, press the STOP button.

3. Using the FM Tuner

The ICD-UX560F/B includes an FM tuner. To use it, you must connect headphones, as the headphone cable acts as the FM antenna.

  1. Connect headphones to the headphone jack (black port, Figure 4).
  2. Access the FM radio function from the main menu.
  3. Use the navigation buttons to tune to desired stations.
  4. You can record FM broadcasts by pressing the REC/PAUSE button while listening to the radio.

4. Managing Files (Transferring to PC)

You can easily transfer recorded files to your computer.

  1. Ensure the recorder is powered on.
  2. Slide the USB slide switch to extend the USB connector.
  3. Connect the USB connector directly to a USB port on your computer.
  4. The recorder will appear as a removable drive on your computer. You can then drag and drop files to transfer them.
  5. Always safely eject the device from your computer before disconnecting.

Maintenance

Cleaning

  • Wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Do not use alcohol, benzene, thinners, or other chemical solvents, as they may damage the finish.

Storage

  • Store the recorder in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity.
  • If storing for an extended period, fully charge the battery every six months to maintain its lifespan.

Troubleshooting
