4. Setup and Operating Instructions
Follow these steps carefully to grow your amazing glow-in-the-dark crystal:
- Prepare Your Workspace: Ensure you have a clean, stable surface. Gather all kit components and a heat-resistant container (like a glass jar) and 1 cup of water.
- Heat Water: Heat 1 cup of water to boiling. Pour the boiling water into your heat-resistant container.
- Add Crystal Growing Powder: Carefully open the bag of Crystal Growing Powder and pour its entire contents into the container with the hot water.
- Stir the Solution: Use the provided stir stick to mix the powder and water. Stir thoroughly, alternating directions, until the Crystal Growing Powder is mostly dissolved. The solution may appear cloudy at first.
- Cool the Solution: Allow the solution to cool for approximately 15 minutes. This is crucial for optimal crystal formation.
- Add Seed Rock: Carefully add the Glow-in-the-Dark Seed Rock to the center of the container, ensuring the flat side is facing down.
- Place in Dark Space: Place the container in a dark, undisturbed space for 7-10 days. For even better results and larger crystals, you can store it for a longer period.
- Observe Growth: Over the next few days, you will observe crystals beginning to form and grow on the seed rock.
- Remove Crystal: Once the crystal has grown to your desired size (after 7-10 days or more), carefully pour out the remaining liquid from the container. Gently scrape around the edge of the crystal with a blunt tool (like a butter knife) until it is loose enough to safely remove.
- Display Your Crystal: Your new glow-in-the-dark crystal is ready to be displayed! Expose it to light to charge its glow.

5. Maintenance
Once your crystal is grown, it requires minimal maintenance. Keep it in a dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve its color and structure. To activate its glow-in-the-dark properties, expose it to a light source for a few minutes before placing it in the dark.
6. Troubleshooting
- No Crystal Growth: Ensure the water was hot enough to fully dissolve the powder. Use distilled or filtered water if tap water is very hard. Make sure the container is placed in an undisturbed, dark location. Allow sufficient time (at least 7-10 days).
- Cloudy Solution/Powder Not Dissolving: Ensure the water is boiling hot. Stir thoroughly until most of the powder is dissolved. Some residue at the bottom is normal.
- Crystal Breaking During Removal: Be gentle when scraping around the edges. If the crystal is stuck, try adding a small amount of warm water to loosen it, then immediately pour it out.
- Crystal Doesn't Glow: Ensure the crystal has been exposed to a strong light source (natural sunlight or a bright lamp) for a sufficient period (e.g., 15-30 minutes) before being placed in complete darkness.
