1. Introduction

The BOSCH GLM 50 C Laser Distance Measure is a professional-grade tool designed for precise and efficient measurement tasks. It offers a range of functions including real-time length, single length, area, and volume calculations. 3. Setup

3.1. Battery Installation

The GLM 50 C requires 2 AAA batteries (included). To install:

1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
2. Insert the 2 AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

3.2. Initial Power-On

Press the red measurement button to power on the device. The backlit display will illuminate, and the device will be ready for use.

4. Operating the Device

4.1. Basic Measurement (Real-time & Single Shot)

The device defaults to real-time measurement, continuously displaying the distance as you move. To take a single, precise measurement, press the red measurement button once. The displayed value will freeze.

4.2. Measurement Modes

Press the 'Func' button to cycle through different measurement modes:

• Length: Standard single distance measurement.
• Area: Measure two sides (length and width) to calculate the area.
• Volume: Measure three sides (length, width, and height) to calculate the volume.
• Indirect Height/Length (Pythagoras): Use two or three measurements to calculate inaccessible heights or lengths.
• Wall Area: Measure the height once, then measure multiple lengths of walls to sum up the total wall area. This is useful for estimating paint or drywall needs.

4.3. Level Function

The device includes a digital level. Press the 'Func' button until the level icon appears. The display will show a bubble level, indicating the device's tilt in degrees. This is useful for ensuring the device is perfectly horizontal or vertical during measurements.

4.4. Adjusting Measurement Reference Point

The device can measure from its front, rear, or from the tripod thread. Press the button with the measurement icon (bottom right) to cycle through these reference points. The display will show an icon indicating the current reference point.

4.5. Bluetooth Connectivity & MeasureOn App

The GLM 50 C can connect to your smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth to the Bosch MeasureOn app. This app allows you to:

• Create digital floor plans.
• Transfer measurements directly to floor plans or photos.
• Add notes and photos to your projects.
• Manage and organize project data.

To connect:

1. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device.
2. On the GLM 50 C, press and hold the Bluetooth button until the Bluetooth icon appears on the display.
3. Open the Bosch MeasureOn app on your mobile device and follow the on-screen instructions to connect to the GLM 50 C.

5. Maintenance

5.1. Cleaning

Regularly clean the device, especially the laser lens and receiver opening, with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials. Ensure the device is dry before storage.

5.2. Battery Care

Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage and damage. Always use fresh, high-quality AAA alkaline batteries.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1. Laser Not Visible / 'Error' Message in Bright Light

In very bright conditions (e.g., direct sunlight), the laser dot may be difficult to see, or the device may display an 'Error' message due to interference. Use the included target cards to improve visibility or perform measurements in shaded areas.

6.2. Inaccurate Measurements

Ensure the measurement reference point is correctly set (front, rear, or tripod). Verify that the device is held steady and level. For long distances, especially outdoors, consider using a tripod for stability.

6.3. Battery Draining Quickly

Ensure the device is powered off when not in use. Reduce screen brightness if possible. Replace batteries with new ones if they are old or frequently used.
