4. Setup

4.1 Unpacking and Placement

4.2 Power Connection

  • Connect the foot controller plug into the machine's foot pedal connector.
  • Plug the power cord into a suitable electrical outlet.

4.3 Needle Installation

  1. Turn the handwheel towards you to raise the needle to its highest position.
  2. Loosen the needle clamp screw.

4.4 Bobbin Winding

  2. Insert the bobbin into the bobbin case, ensuring the thread unwinds in the correct direction (usually counter-clockwise).
  3. Guide the thread through the tension spring of the bobbin case.
  4. Close the bobbin cover plate.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Threading the Upper Thread

  1. Raise the presser foot lever.
  2. Place the thread spool on the spool pin.
  3. Guide the thread through the upper thread guide.
  4. Pass the thread down through the tension discs.
  5. Bring the thread up and through the take-up lever (ensure the take-up lever is at its highest position).
  6. Guide the thread down through the lower thread guides.
  7. Thread the needle from front to back.

5.2 Bringing Up the Bobbin Thread

  1. Hold the upper thread lightly with your left hand.
  2. Turn the handwheel towards you to lower the needle, then raise it again.
  3. The upper thread will catch the bobbin thread, forming a loop. Pull the loop up through the needle plate opening.
  4. Pull both threads (upper and bobbin) under the presser foot and towards the back of the machine.

5.3 Stitch Selection and Adjustment

  • Stitch Selector Dial: Rotate this dial to choose your desired stitch pattern (e.g., straight stitch, zigzag, buttonhole).
  • Stitch Length Dial: Adjusts the length of the stitches. Higher numbers mean longer stitches.
  • Stitch Width Dial (if applicable): Adjusts the width of zigzag or decorative stitches.
  • Tension Dial: Adjust for balanced stitches. A balanced stitch shows equal thread on both sides of the fabric.

5.4 Basic Sewing

  1. Place the fabric under the presser foot.
  2. Lower the presser foot lever.
  3. Turn the handwheel to lower the needle into the fabric at the starting point.
  4. Press the foot pedal gently to begin sewing. Guide the fabric lightly; do not pull or push.
  5. To secure the stitch, press the reverse lever at the beginning and end of your seam.
  6. When finished, raise the needle to its highest position, lift the presser foot, and pull the fabric away. Cut the threads using the thread cutter on the machine or scissors.
