5.1 Unpacking
Carefully remove the belt sander and all accessories from the packaging. Inspect for any shipping damage. Retain the packaging for future storage or transport.
5.2 Installing the Sanding Belt
- Ensure the tool is unplugged from the power source.
- Locate the belt release lever or button, typically on the side of the sander. Depress or pull it to release tension on the belt rollers.
- Slide the old belt off (if applicable) and slide the new 3" x 21" (76.2 mm x 533.4 mm) sanding belt onto the rollers, ensuring the arrow on the inside of the belt matches the direction of rotation arrow on the sander.
- Release the tension lever/button to secure the belt.
5.3 Attaching the Dust Collection Bag
The dust collection bag attaches to the dust port, usually located at the rear or side of the sander. Push the bag firmly onto the port until it is securely seated. Ensure it is empty before starting work.

6. Operating Instructions
Follow these steps for safe and effective operation of your belt sander:
6.1 Holding the Sander
Grip the main handle firmly with one hand and the auxiliary handle with the other. Maintain a balanced stance. Do not operate the sander with one hand.
6.2 Powering On/Off
- To Turn On: Press and hold the safety button, then depress the trigger switch. Release the safety button once the tool is running.
- To Turn Off: Release the trigger switch.
6.3 Adjusting Belt Tracking
The belt tracking knob allows you to center the sanding belt on the rollers. With the sander running (but not touching the workpiece), slowly turn the knob until the belt runs straight and does not rub against the side housing.
6.4 Sanding Techniques
- Place the sander gently onto the workpiece, allowing the belt to reach full speed before making contact.
- Apply even, moderate pressure. Let the tool do the work; excessive pressure can slow the motor and damage the belt.
- Move the sander in long, overlapping strokes, following the grain of the wood for best results.
- Lift the sander off the workpiece before turning it off.
7. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your belt sander.
7.1 Cleaning
- Always unplug the tool before cleaning.
- Wipe down the exterior of the tool with a clean, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or solvents.
- Periodically clear dust from the motor vents using compressed air to prevent overheating.
7.2 Emptying the Dust Bag
Empty the dust collection bag frequently, especially when working with fine dust. A full bag reduces dust collection efficiency and can affect performance.
7.3 Carbon Brush Replacement
The carbon brushes are wear items and will need replacement over time. Your sander includes a set of replacement brushes.
- Unplug the tool.
- Locate the brush caps on the sides of the motor housing.
- Unscrew the caps using a flathead screwdriver or coin.
- Carefully remove the old carbon brushes.
- Insert the new carbon brushes, ensuring they are oriented correctly.
- Replace and tighten the brush caps.
