Setup Instructions
- Choose a Location: Select a location for your bird bath or water feature that receives direct and unobstructed sunlight for most of the day. The fountain operates best in strong, direct sunlight.
- Prepare the Water Basin: Fill your bird bath, pond, or container with sufficient water. Ensure the water level is deep enough for the pump to be fully submerged (at least 1 inch / 2.5 cm deep).
- Attach Nozzle (Optional): Select your desired spray head from the 7 included nozzles. Gently attach it to the pump's outlet. You can experiment with different nozzles to achieve various water patterns and heights.
- Place the Fountain: Carefully place the solar fountain pump unit into the water. Ensure the solar panel faces upwards towards the sun.
- Initial Priming: If the fountain does not start immediately, gently shake the unit or submerge it completely for 5-8 seconds to release any trapped air and allow the pump to prime.
- Use Stabilizers (Optional): If the fountain tends to drift or move excessively in your water basin, insert the four plastic stabilizers into the designated slots on the side of the fountain unit. These will help keep it centered.

Operating Instructions
- The Ankway solar fountain pump is entirely solar-powered and does not store energy. It will only operate when exposed to sufficient direct sunlight.
- The height and pattern of the water spray are directly dependent on the intensity of the sunlight. Stronger sunlight results in a higher and more consistent spray.
- The fountain will automatically start spraying water once the solar panel receives enough sunlight. It will stop or reduce its spray in cloudy conditions or when shaded.
- Regularly check the water level in your basin to ensure the pump remains submerged and to prevent it from running dry, which can shorten its lifespan.
Maintenance
To maintain optimal performance and extend the life of your solar fountain pump, regular cleaning is essential:
- Clean the Solar Panel: Wipe the solar panel surface regularly with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust, dirt, leaves, and other debris. A clean panel ensures maximum sunlight absorption.
- Clean the Pump Filter: The pump has a filter to prevent debris from entering. Periodically remove the pump cover (usually by twisting or unclipping) and clean the filter sponge or mesh. Rinse it thoroughly under clean water.
- Check for Blockages: Inspect the pump's impeller area for any blockages from small debris. If necessary, carefully remove any obstructions.
- Maintain Water Quality: Keep the water in your basin clean. Algae buildup or excessive debris can clog the pump and reduce its efficiency. Change the water regularly.
Troubleshooting
- Fountain Not Working:
- Ensure the solar panel is in direct, strong sunlight.
- Check if the pump is fully submerged in water.
- Clean the solar panel and pump filter for any blockages.
- Shake the fountain gently or submerge it for 5-8 seconds to prime the pump.
- Weak or Intermittent Spray:
- Sunlight may be insufficient or intermittent (e.g., passing clouds, partial shade).
- The pump filter or nozzle may be partially clogged. Clean as per maintenance instructions.
- Water level might be too low. Add more water to the basin.
- Fountain Drifts or Moves:
- Use the included plastic stabilizers to help anchor the fountain in the center of your water basin.
- Ensure the water basin is large enough to accommodate the fountain's movement without it hitting the sides.
