1. Product Overview
The HDView 6-Channel Smart Analytics Security DVR/NVR is a versatile recording solution designed for comprehensive surveillance systems. This unit supports a hybrid configuration, allowing for both analog and IP camera inputs.
- 4 Channel DVR: Compatible with TVI, AHD, CVI, and 960H analog cameras, supporting recording resolutions up to 5MP Lite.
- 2 Channel IP NVR: Supports HDView IP cameras up to 5MP resolution, allowing for integration of network cameras.
- H.265 Video Compression: Utilizes advanced H.265 compression technology for efficient storage and reduced bandwidth usage, saving hard drive space by approximately 50% compared to H.264.
- Smart AI Intelligent Analytics: Features advanced analytics for enhanced monitoring and search capabilities.
- P2P Connectivity: Enables easy remote access via mobile applications without complex network configurations.
- Note: This unit does not include a pre-installed hard drive or Power over Ethernet (PoE) ports for IP cameras. External PoE switches or 12V DC power supplies are required for IP camera operation.

3. Operating Instructions
3.1 Initial Power-On and System Access
After all physical connections are made, plug in the power adapter. The system will boot up. Connect a USB mouse to navigate the on-screen menu. The first-time setup wizard will guide you through basic configurations, including setting a password and network settings.
3.2 Hard Drive Formatting
If you installed a new hard drive, it must be formatted before use. Navigate to the system's storage settings (usually under "System" or "HDD Management") and select the installed hard drive to format it. This will erase all data on the drive and prepare it for recording.
3.3 Camera Configuration
The DVR/NVR automatically detects connected analog cameras. For IP cameras, you will need to add them manually through the IP Channel settings. Ensure IP cameras are on the same network segment as the NVR and have unique IP addresses.
3.4 Recording and Playback
Configure recording schedules, motion detection, and continuous recording settings in the "Record" menu. To view recorded footage, access the "Playback" menu, select the desired date, time, and camera channel.

3.5 Smart Analytics
The system supports various smart analytics features, such as motion detection, line crossing, and intrusion detection. These can be configured per channel to trigger alarms or recording events. The "Smart Search" function allows for quick retrieval of footage based on these events.

3.6 Remote Access (P2P)
The HDView DVR/NVR supports P2P (Peer-to-Peer) technology for easy remote viewing on mobile devices and computers. Download the official HDView mobile application from your device's app store. Scan the QR code displayed on the DVR/NVR's monitor (usually found in the network settings) to add the device to your app. This allows live viewing, playback, and system management from anywhere with an internet connection.

4. Maintenance
- Regular Cleaning: Keep the DVR/NVR unit clean and free from dust to ensure proper ventilation and prevent overheating. Use a soft, dry cloth.
- Hard Drive Health Check: Periodically check the status of your hard drive through the system menu. Replace the hard drive if errors are detected or if it reaches its end of life.
- Firmware Updates: Check the HDView official website for available firmware updates. Updating firmware can improve system stability, add new features, and fix bugs. Follow the update instructions carefully to avoid system damage.
- Backup Configuration: Regularly back up your system configuration settings to a USB drive. This can save time during system restoration or replacement.
