2. Setup Guide

2.1. Physical Installation

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the DVR/NVR unit and all accessories from the packaging. Inspect for any visible damage.
  2. Hard Drive Installation (if not pre-installed): If your unit did not come with a hard drive pre-installed, refer to the separate hard drive installation guide. Ensure the hard drive is securely mounted to prevent rattling or damage.
  3. Connect Cameras:
    • For analog cameras (HD-TVI/AHD/CVI/960H), connect BNC cables from the cameras to the corresponding video input ports on the rear of the DVR/NVR.
    • For IP cameras, connect them to your network via an Ethernet cable. Ensure IP cameras are powered externally (a PoE switch or 12V DC power supply is required as the DVR/NVR does not provide PoE).
  4. Connect Monitor: Connect a monitor to the HDMI or VGA output port on the DVR/NVR.
  5. Connect Mouse: Plug the USB mouse into a USB port on the DVR/NVR.
  6. Network Connection: Connect an Ethernet cable from the DVR/NVR's LAN port to your router or network switch.
  7. Power On: Connect the power adapter to the DVR/NVR and then to a power outlet. The unit will power on automatically.

2.2. Initial Configuration

Upon first boot, follow the on-screen prompts to set up the administrator password, date/time, and network settings. It is recommended to enable DHCP for automatic IP address assignment if your network supports it. For remote access, configure DDNS or port forwarding on your router as needed.

2.3. Mobile App Setup

To view your cameras remotely on a mobile device (iPhone, Android) or computer, download the official HDView mobile application or CMS software. Follow the in-app instructions to add your DVR/NVR using its serial number or IP address.

4. Maintenance

4.1. Hard Drive Management

Regularly check the status of the 1TB surveillance drive through the system's storage settings. Ensure it is functioning correctly and has sufficient space. The system typically overwrites the oldest footage when the drive is full, but manual formatting may be required periodically.

4.2. Firmware Updates

Periodically check the manufacturer's website for firmware updates. Updating firmware can improve system performance, add new features, and address security vulnerabilities. Follow the provided instructions carefully when performing updates.

4.3. Cleaning

Keep the DVR/NVR unit clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for external cleaning. Ensure ventilation openings are not obstructed to prevent overheating.

5. Troubleshooting

  • No Video Output:
    • Check power connections to the DVR/NVR and monitor.
    • Verify HDMI/VGA cable connections.
    • Ensure the monitor is set to the correct input source.
  • No Camera Feed:
    • Check power supply to the camera.
    • Verify BNC or Ethernet cable connections for analog and IP cameras, respectively.
