Introduction
The La Crosse Technology TX141TH-BV2 is a wireless outdoor thermo-hygrometer transmitting sensor designed to provide accurate and fast measurements of outdoor temperature and humidity. It operates on a 433MHz frequency and is compatible with various La Crosse Technology weather stations. This manual provides essential information for setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance of your sensor.
What's Included
- TX141TH-BV2 Wireless Outdoor Thermo-Hygrometer Transmitting Sensor
- Mounting Bracket
- Hardware (screws)
- Instructional Manual (this document)
Setup
- Battery Installation: Open the battery compartment on the back of the sensor. Insert two (2) AA batteries (not included) according to the polarity markings (+/-). Close the battery compartment securely.
- Initial Synchronization: Once batteries are installed, the sensor will begin transmitting data. Place the sensor near your compatible La Crosse Technology weather station (sold separately) to allow for initial synchronization. This process may take a few minutes. Refer to your weather station's manual for specific synchronization instructions.

Operation
The TX141TH-BV2 sensor continuously measures outdoor temperature and humidity and wirelessly transmits this data to your compatible La Crosse Technology weather station. The red indicator light on the sensor will flash periodically to indicate that it is transmitting data. Ensure the sensor remains within the transmission range of your weather station for continuous readings.
Placement Guidelines
Proper placement of the sensor is crucial for accurate readings and optimal performance. Follow these guidelines:
- Location: Mount the sensor on a north-facing wall or in any well-shaded location. Direct sunlight will cause the sensor to read higher temperatures than the actual ambient temperature.
- Protection: Place the sensor in a dry, shaded location to protect it from moisture build-up and direct sun exposure. An ideal location is approximately 18 inches under the eaves of your house or under a deck rail.
- Orientation: Ensure the outdoor sensor is mounted vertically to allow for proper moisture drainage.
- Transmission Range: The maximum wireless transmission range to the weather station is over 300 feet (91 meters) in open air. Walls, floors, and other obstructions will reduce this range. Position the sensor and weather station to minimize obstacles between them.

Maintenance
- Cleaning: To clean the sensor, wipe the exterior with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the casing or internal components.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries annually or when the low battery indicator appears on your weather station display. Always replace both batteries at the same time.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No outdoor temperature/humidity reading on weather station. | Sensor out of range, batteries low/dead, interference, or synchronization issue. | Move sensor closer to weather station. Replace batteries. Remove other electronic devices causing interference. Re-synchronize sensor with weather station (refer to weather station manual). |
| Inaccurate temperature readings (too high). | Sensor exposed to direct sunlight. | Relocate sensor to a shaded area, preferably on a north-facing wall or under an eave. |
| Intermittent signal loss. | Obstructions, distance, or environmental factors. | Reduce obstacles between sensor and weather station. Ensure sensor is mounted vertically for proper drainage. Check for strong radio interference sources. |
