Setup

Before first use, unpack all components and clean them according to the "Maintenance and Cleaning" section. Ensure the coffee maker is placed on a flat, stable surface near a power outlet.

1. Water Tank: Remove the water tank from the side of the unit. Fill it with fresh, cold water up to the desired level (max 10 cups). Reinsert the water tank securely.
2. Bean Container: Open the lid of the bean container located on top of the unit. Pour whole coffee beans into the container. The container holds up to 7 ounces of beans. Close the lid securely.
3. Filter Basket: Ensure the goldtone filter is properly seated in the filter basket. If using paper filters, place a #4 cone filter into the basket.
4. Thermal Carafe: Place the thermal carafe securely on the warming plate.
5. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.

Operating Instructions

Setting Time and Auto-On Function

1. Set Current Time: Press the "HOUR" and "MINUTE" buttons to set the current time. The display will show "AM" or "PM".
2. Set Auto-On Time: Press the "AUTO" button. The display will flash. Use the "HOUR" and "MINUTE" buttons to set your desired brew time. Press "AUTO" again to confirm. The "AUTO" indicator light will illuminate.

Brewing Coffee

1. Select Grind Setting: Use the grind selector dial (FINE, MEDIUM, COARSE) to choose your preferred grind. For oily beans, consider using the "OILY" setting button which adjusts the grinding cycle.
2. Select Cups: Press the "CUPS" button repeatedly to select the number of cups you wish to brew (2, 4, 6, 8, 10).
3. Start Brewing: Press the "BREW" button to start the brewing process immediately. The grinder will activate, followed by the brewing cycle.
4. Using Pre-Ground Coffee: If using pre-ground coffee, press the "GROUND COFFEE" button before pressing "BREW". The grinder will not activate.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee maker.

Daily Cleaning

• Carafe: Empty and rinse the thermal carafe after each use. The carafe and its lid are dishwasher safe.
• Filter Basket: Remove the goldtone filter and discard used coffee grounds. Rinse the filter and filter basket under warm water. They are dishwasher safe.
• Bean Container: Wipe the inside of the bean container with a dry cloth to remove any residual coffee oils.
• Water Tank: Rinse the removable water tank with warm water.
• Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.

Weekly Cleaning (Grinder)

• Remove Upper Burr: Ensure the unit is unplugged. Unlock and remove the upper burr from the grinder.
• Clean Burrs: Use the provided cleaning brush to remove coffee grounds from both the upper and lower burrs.
• Clean Grinder Chamber: Use the brush or a small vacuum cleaner to remove grounds from the grinder chamber.
• Reassemble: Reinsert the upper burr and lock it into place.
