1. Introduction

The VOSS.farming Extra Power electric fence energizer is a versatile and powerful device designed for effective animal containment. It is suitable for operation with 9V and 12V batteries, as well as via a 230V power supply. This energizer can also be powered by a solar cell (solar cell not included). It is ideal for medium-sized fences with moderate vegetation and is particularly effective for horses, ponies, and many other animal types.

2. Important Safety Instructions

Always observe the following safety precautions to prevent injury and damage to the device:

4. Setup and Installation

4.1 Powering the Energizer

The energizer offers multiple power options:

4.1.1 Using the 9V Battery

1. Open the battery compartment on the bottom of the energizer unit.
2. Connect the supplied 9V zinc-carbon battery to the internal terminals, ensuring correct polarity (red to positive, black to negative).
3. Close the battery compartment securely.

4.1.2 Using the 230V Power Adapter

1. Connect the small plug of the 230V power adapter into the corresponding input port on the energizer.
2. Plug the 230V adapter into a standard wall outlet.
3. Ensure the outlet is protected by a residual current device (RCD) for safety.

4.2 Connecting to the Fence and Ground

Proper connection to the fence and a good ground system are essential for the energizer's performance.

1. Install the Ground Stake: Drive the supplied ground stake deep into moist soil, away from building foundations and other grounding systems. Ensure at least 80% of the stake is buried.
2. Connect Ground Wire: Use the black cable from the connection set. Connect one end to the ground terminal on the energizer (marked with a ground symbol ⊥) and the other end to the ground stake.
3. Connect Fence Wire: Use the red cable from the connection set. Connect one end to the fence terminal on the energizer (marked with a lightning bolt symbol ⚡) and the other end to your electric fence line.

Ensure all connections are tight and secure to prevent power loss and ensure optimal performance.

5. Operation

5.1 Turning the Energizer On/Off

The VOSS.farming Extra Power energizer features a convenient on/off switch located on the unit.

1. To turn on the energizer, press the power button. A green LED indicator will illuminate, signaling that the device is active and generating pulses.
2. To turn off the energizer, press the power button again. The green LED will turn off.

5.2 Monitoring Performance

The large control LED on the unit allows for easy monitoring of the energizer's operation. A steady green light indicates normal function. If the light is off or blinking irregularly, refer to the troubleshooting section.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your energizer.

• Cleaning: Periodically wipe the energizer casing with a damp cloth to remove dirt and dust. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the unit in water.
• Battery Check: If using battery power, regularly check the battery voltage. Replace the 9V battery when its performance diminishes. For 12V rechargeable batteries (not included), ensure they are charged as needed.
• Connections: Inspect all connections (fence, ground, power) regularly for corrosion or looseness. Clean and tighten as necessary.
• Grounding: Ensure the ground stake remains firmly in moist soil. If the soil is dry, water the area around the ground stake to improve conductivity.
• Fence Line: Keep the fence line clear of vegetation, which can short-circuit the fence and reduce its effectiveness.
