4. Setup and Assembly

Follow these steps to assemble your umbrella:

1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging. Inspect for any shipping damage.
2. Insert Pole into Base: Place the umbrella pole into a suitable, weighted umbrella base (not included). Ensure the base is stable and can support the umbrella's weight.
3. Secure Pole: Tighten any securing screws or knobs on the umbrella base to firmly hold the pole in place.
4. Open Canopy: Locate the crank handle on the umbrella pole. Turn the crank handle clockwise to slowly open the umbrella canopy until it is fully extended.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Opening the Umbrella

To open the umbrella, turn the crank handle clockwise until the canopy is fully extended and taut. Do not overtighten.

5.2 Tilting the Umbrella (Collar Tilt)

The California Umbrella Spectrum Mist features a Collar Tilt mechanism. To tilt the umbrella, simply twist the collar located above the crank handle. Rotate the collar to achieve the desired tilt angle for optimal shade. Twist back to straighten.

5.3 Closing and Securing the Umbrella

To close the umbrella, turn the crank handle counter-clockwise until the canopy is fully retracted. Once closed, use the integrated fabric ties to secure the canopy neatly around the pole. This prevents the canopy from unfurling in windy conditions and prolongs its lifespan.

6. Care and Maintenance

Proper care will extend the life and appearance of your umbrella:

• Cleaning the Fabric: The Sunbrella Performance Fabric can be cleaned with mild soap and water. For stubborn stains, a soft brush can be used. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow to air dry completely before closing or storing. Do not use harsh chemicals or bleach.
