Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your modem router, try these common troubleshooting steps:
- No Internet Connection:
- Check all cable connections (coaxial, Ethernet, power) to ensure they are secure.
- Restart your modem router by unplugging the power adapter, waiting 10 seconds, and plugging it back in.
- Verify that your internet service is active with your ISP. There might be a service outage in your area.
- Check the LED indicators on the front panel. If the Internet LED is off or blinking, there might be an issue with your ISP connection.
- Slow Wi-Fi Speed:
- Ensure your modem router is placed in a central location and not obstructed.
- Reduce interference by moving the router away from other electronics.
- Connect to the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band for faster speeds if your device supports it.
- Limit the number of active devices or bandwidth-intensive activities on your network.
- Perform a speed test to confirm your internet speed.
- Wi-Fi Disconnections:
- Update your device's Wi-Fi drivers.
- Try changing the Wi-Fi channel in the router settings to avoid interference from neighboring networks.
- Ensure your firmware is up to date.
- Factory Reset: If issues persist, you may need to perform a factory reset. Locate the Reset button (often a small pinhole) on the back of the modem router. Use a paperclip to press and hold the button for about 7-10 seconds until the LEDs flash. This will restore the router to its default factory settings, requiring re-setup.
