3. Setup & Installation
Before You Begin
- Choose a dry, open space under your sink near the cold water line. Ensure sufficient room for all components.
- Do not connect to hot water or install outdoors.
- Gather necessary tools: Phillips-head screwdriver, box cutter, drill bits (1/4" and 1/2"), power drill, adjustable wrench.
Step-by-Step Installation
- Feed Water Connection: Turn off the cold water supply. Connect the feed water adapter to the shut-off valve. Attach the red tubing to the inlet port on your feed water adapter. Leave the valve closed for now.
- Leak Stop Valve Placement: Place the leak stop valve flat on the cabinet floor. Insert the absorbent pad and connect the red tubing (from feed water) to the 'IN' port and the white tubing (to sediment filter) to the 'OUT' port.
- Drain Saddle Connection: Locate a vertical or horizontal section of the drain pipe above the P-trap. Drill a 1/4-inch hole into the drain pipe. Secure the drain saddle and attach the black tubing. Avoid placing it after a garbage disposal or dishwasher connection.
- RO Faucet Installation: Use an open sink hole or drill a 1/2-inch hole. For detailed countertop drilling information, consult a local water specialist. Tighten the faucet with washers and nuts from underneath. Connect the blue tubing to the faucet adapter.
- System Mounting & Tubing Connections: Mount your system on the cabinet wall or place it upright. Connect all the tubes: Red from feed water to leak stop, White from leak stop to sediment filter, Black from flow restrictor to drain saddle, Yellow from inline post-carbon to tank, Blue from inline post-carbon to faucet. Use locking clips for all connections to ensure they are snug.

4. Initial System Start-Up & Flushing
After installation, it is crucial to properly start up and flush your system to ensure optimal performance and remove any carbon dust or air bubbles.
- Open the feed water valve and cold water supply.
- Open the RO faucet and let water drip for 30 minutes.
- Close the faucet and check for leaks.
- Open the tank valve and allow the system to fill completely (2-3 hours).
- Once the tank is full, open the RO faucet and drain the tank completely.
- Repeat the fill and drain cycle at least two more times to fully flush the filters and remove any carbon dust or air bubbles.
- After the final flush, allow the tank to fill completely before regular use.
5. Operation
Your Express Water RO system operates automatically. Once installed and flushed, it will continuously fill the water tank with purified water as needed. The leak detection system will automatically shut off water flow if moisture is detected, providing peace of mind.

6. Maintenance & Filter Replacement
Regular filter replacement is essential for maintaining water quality and system longevity. Follow the recommended schedule below.
Filter Replacement Schedule
- Every 6 Months: Sediment Filter (SED), Granular Activated Carbon Filter (GAC), Activated Carbon Block Filter (ACB), Alkaline Mineralization Filter (ALK), Deionization Filter (DI - if applicable).
- Every 12 Months: Reverse Osmosis Membrane (ROM), Post Activated Carbon Filter (PAC).
- Every 6-12 Months: UV Bulb (if applicable).

Filter Replacement Procedure
- Turn off the feed water and tank valves. Open the RO faucet to release pressure.
- Place the system in a shallow bin to catch any water.
- Use the filter housing wrench to open the three bottom filter housings (SED, GAC, ACB). Remove old filters, wash housings with dish soap, rinse well, and insert new filters. Re-tighten housings snugly.
- For the RO Membrane (ROM), use pliers to gently remove the old membrane. Rinse the housing and push in the new membrane firmly in the same direction. Close the cap and tighten with the wrench.
- For the Post Activated Carbon (PAC) filter, disconnect tubing from both ends. Slide the old PAC filter out from the clips. Install the new filter and reconnect the tubing, securing with locking clips.
- For ALK or DI filters (if applicable), follow the same process as the PAC filter: remove tubing, replace filter, and reconnect securely.
UV Bulb Replacement (if applicable)
- Unplug the power to the UV sterilizer.
- Do not unscrew the metal cap. Just remove the black end to access the UV bulb.
- Carefully remove the old bulb by the white ceramic end only.
- Insert the new bulb, replace the cap, and plug the power back in.
- Safety Reminder: Never touch the UV bulb glass. Use gloves or handle only by the white ceramic ends. Never look directly at the lit bulb.

7. Troubleshooting (FAQs)
Here are answers to common questions and solutions for potential issues:
- Why is there no water coming from my RO faucet?
Check that the feed water and tank valves are both turned on and the faucet handle is fully open. If the system was just installed, wait 2-3 hours for the tank to fill. If no water flows after 3 hours, remove the yellow tubing from the tank valve. If water sprays out, your faucet may be clogged. Ensure all tubing is pushed in firmly and in the correct ports. - Why is my system leaking?
Leaks usually happen at tubing connections or filter housings. Turn off both feed water and tank valves immediately. Check that tubing is inserted all the way (at least 5/8 of an inch). Remove and re-insert tubing if needed. Ensure O-rings inside the housings are seated properly. Use Teflon tape if there's a leak at threaded fittings. If something is cracked, contact customer support. - My water is cloudy or has air bubbles. Is that normal?
Yes, especially right after installation or filter changes. This is just air trapped in the system and will clear up after a few tank refills. Alkaline filters may also introduce additional oxygen, which looks like micro-bubbles. Run and flush the system 2-3 full cycles. Tilt the RO unit slightly to help trapped air escape. - Why does my system keep draining or running constantly?
This can happen if your incoming water pressure is too low (under 45 PSI), pre-filters or RO membrane are worn out, or the shut-off valve was installed incorrectly. To fix: Use a pressure gauge; if low, a booster pump may help. Change filters if they're older than 6-12 months. Double-check the shut-off valve is in the right position. - Why is my water pressure low or flow weak at the faucet?
Start by lifting the tank. If it feels light, it just needs more time to fill. Tank pressure should be between 7-10 PSI when empty; use the valve underneath to adjust if needed. Make sure the tank valve is fully open. If still low, the RO membrane may need replacing or tubing could be clogged. - Can I connect my RO system to a refrigerator or ice maker?
Yes, you can. Just make sure to use the Express Water refrigerator connection kit. If your fridge is over 10 feet away, consider a delivery pump for better flow. Don't use your fridge's dispenser until after your first few tank flushes, as carbon dust could clog the internal filter. - When should I replace filters?
Refer to the 'Filter Replacement Schedule' in the Maintenance section above. Even if your water tastes okay, the filters wear down over time and won't block contaminants as well. - Is this water safe for aquariums?
Only our systems with a deionization (DI) filter are safe for fish and reef tanks. Be sure to test your water regularly to keep things balanced and safe for your aquatic friends. - Why does my system make noise?
Some sounds are totally normal, like soft clicks or a little humming during refills. However, loud gurgling from the drain may mean the saddle is misaligned. Rattling may signal loose tubing or contact with cabinet walls. Tighten things up and adjust tubing to keep things quiet.
