Introduction

The Wemo Insight Wifi Switch allows you to remotely control and monitor your electronic devices and appliances from anywhere using your smartphone or tablet. It provides insights into energy usage, helps set schedules, and sends customized notifications, integrating seamlessly with your existing home Wi-Fi network.

Setup

1. Physical Installation

Plug the Wemo Insight Wifi Switch into any standard 120V AC wall outlet. Ensure the outlet is easily accessible.

2. App Installation and Pairing

1. Download the free Wemo App from the Apple App Store (for iOS devices) or Google Play Store (for Android devices). The app is compatible with Android 4.0 and higher or iOS 6 and higher.
2. Open the Wemo App and follow the on-screen instructions to connect your Wemo Insight Wifi Switch to your home Wi-Fi network. You will need your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password.
3. Once connected, the app will guide you through naming your device and setting up initial preferences.

Operating the Wemo Insight Wifi Switch

Basic Control

You can turn connected devices on or off remotely using the Wemo App from anywhere with an internet connection. Simply tap the device icon in the app to toggle its power state.

Energy Monitoring

The Wemo Insight Wifi Switch allows you to monitor the energy consumption of connected devices. Within the Wemo App, navigate to the device's details to view real-time energy usage, average daily usage, and the total time the device has been on. This feature helps you understand and manage your energy costs.

Scheduling

Set custom schedules for your devices to turn on or off automatically. For example, you can schedule lights to turn on at sunset or a coffee maker to start brewing before you wake up. Use the "Rules" or "Schedules" section within the Wemo App to create and manage these automated tasks.

Notifications

Receive customized notifications directly to your smartphone or tablet. You can set up alerts for when a device turns on or off, or if it exceeds a certain energy consumption threshold. This feature provides enhanced control and awareness over your home's energy use.

Maintenance

Cleaning

To clean the Wemo Insight Wifi Switch, unplug it from the wall outlet. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials, as they may damage the device.

Software Updates

Periodically check the Wemo App for available firmware updates for your device. Keeping your device's software up-to-date ensures optimal performance, security, and access to new features. The app will typically notify you when an update is available.

Troubleshooting

Common Issues and Solutions

• Device not connecting to Wi-Fi: Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz (Wemo devices do not support 5GHz networks). Check your Wi-Fi password and signal strength. Try moving the Wemo device closer to your router.
• App not finding the device: Make sure your smartphone/tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the Wemo device during setup. Restart the Wemo App and try again.
• Device unresponsive: Unplug the Wemo Insight Wifi Switch from the wall outlet, wait 10 seconds, and plug it back in. This performs a power cycle.

Factory Reset

If you encounter persistent issues or wish to clear all settings, you can perform a factory reset. This will erase all saved settings and return the device to its original factory state.

1. Unplug the Wemo Insight Wifi Switch from the wall outlet.
2. While holding down the restore button (located on the top of the device, near the indicator light), plug the Wemo Insight Wifi Switch back into the wall outlet.
3. Continue holding the restore button for approximately 5 seconds until the indicator light begins to flash amber.
4. Release the button. The device is now reset and ready for a new setup.
