Operating Instructions

  1. Prepare the Surface:

Before polishing, ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free of loose dirt or debris. For best results, wash and decontaminate the vehicle's paint or surface thoroughly.

  2. Apply Compound/Polish:

Apply a small amount of your chosen compound, polish, or wax directly onto the foam pad or evenly distribute a few dots onto the working surface area. Do not over-apply.

  3. Set Speed:

The polisher features 6 different RPM settings. Start with a lower speed (e.g., 1-3) to spread the product evenly, then increase to a higher speed (e.g., 4-6) for cutting or polishing. Refer to the product manufacturer's recommendations for specific speed settings.

  4. Start Polishing:

Place the foam pad flat against the surface before turning the polisher ON. Turn the polisher ON and move it slowly and evenly over the surface in overlapping passes. Maintain light, consistent pressure. Avoid tilting the polisher, which can concentrate pressure and cause uneven results.

  5. Work in Sections:

Work on small sections at a time (e.g., 2x2 feet) to ensure thorough coverage and product effectiveness. Do not allow compounds or polishes to dry on the surface.

  6. Turn Off and Clean:

Before lifting the polisher from the surface, turn it OFF. Wipe off any residue with a clean microfiber towel. Repeat the process for subsequent sections.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Astro 3058 Polisher.

  • Cleaning Foam Pads: After each use, remove the foam pad and clean it thoroughly. Most foam pads can be washed with warm water and a mild detergent, then rinsed and air-dried completely before storage.
  • Cleaning the Polisher Body: Wipe down the polisher body with a clean, damp cloth to remove any product residue or dust. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Ensure no liquids enter the motor housing.
  • Inspect Power Cord: Regularly check the power cord for any signs of damage, cuts, or fraying. If damaged, have it repaired by a qualified technician.
  • Storage: Store the polisher in a clean, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure the power cord is neatly coiled and not kinked.
  • Carbon Brushes: The motor uses carbon brushes. If the tool experiences reduced power or intermittent operation, the brushes may need inspection or replacement. This should be performed by a qualified service technician.
