3. Setup

3.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure all items listed in the packing contents are present. Retain packaging for potential future transport or service.

3.2 Connecting the Base Unit

  1. Power Connection: Connect the AC adapter to the base unit's power jack, then plug it into a standard electrical outlet.
  2. Telephone Line Connection: Connect one end of the telephone line cord to the LINE 1 jack on the base unit and the other end to your telephone wall jack. Repeat for LINE 2 if you have a second telephone line.
  3. Optional Headset: If using a corded headset, connect it to the HEADSET jack on the base unit.

3.3 Cordless Handset Battery Installation and Charging

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the KX-TGA950B cordless handset.
  2. Insert the provided rechargeable AAA batteries, observing the correct polarity (+ and -).
  3. Close the battery compartment cover.
  4. Place the handset in its charging cradle. The charge indicator should illuminate. Allow at least 7 hours for the initial charge.

3.4 Initial Settings

After connecting the base unit and charging the handsets, the system will prompt you to set the date and time. Follow the on-screen instructions on the base unit or handset display to configure these settings.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Making and Receiving Calls

  • To Make a Call (Corded Base Unit): Lift the corded handset or press the SP-PHONE button. Select LINE 1 or LINE 2. Dial the number.
  • To Make a Call (Cordless Handset): Press TALK or SP-PHONE. Select LINE 1 or LINE 2. Dial the number.
  • To Receive a Call: Lift the corded handset, press SP-PHONE on the base unit, or press TALK or SP-PHONE on a cordless handset.

4.2 2-Line Operation

The base unit and handsets have dedicated LINE 1 and LINE 2 buttons. Press the desired line button to select which line to use for an outgoing call or to answer an incoming call on a specific line. You can switch between lines during a call by pressing the other line button.

4.3 Digital Answering System

The integrated answering system can record up to 60 minutes of messages. You can turn the answering system on or off for each line independently using the ANSWER ON/OFF button on the base unit, followed by selecting L1 or L2.

  • Playing Messages: Press PLAY 1 for Line 1 messages or PLAY 2 for Line 2 messages on the base unit.
  • Remote Access: Access your answering system remotely by calling your phone number and entering your remote access code.

4.4 3-Way Conferencing

To initiate a 3-way conference call:

  1. While on a call, press the FLASH/CALL WAIT button.
  2. Dial the second party's number.
  3. Once the second party answers, press CONF (Conference) or follow the on-screen prompt to join all parties.

4.5 Caller ID and Noise Reduction

  • Caller ID: The display shows the caller's name and number (if available and subscribed to Caller ID service). The Talking Caller ID feature will audibly announce the caller's information.
  • Noise Reduction: This feature is automatically active during calls to minimize background noise for clearer conversations.

4.6 Bluetooth Connectivity

Your system supports Bluetooth for linking with mobile phones and connecting a Bluetooth headset.
