Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the rice cooker and all accessories from the packaging. Retain packaging for future transport or storage.
  2. Initial Cleaning: Wash the inner cooking pan, inner lid, steam vent, measuring cup, ladle, and rice spoon with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely. Wipe the exterior of the main unit with a damp cloth.
  3. Placement: Place the rice cooker on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.
  4. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet. Ensure the voltage matches the appliance's requirements (120 Volts).

Operating Instructions

Basic Rice Cooking Steps:

  1. Measure Rice: Use the provided measuring cup to measure the desired amount of uncooked rice. One cup of uncooked rice typically yields two cups of cooked rice.
  2. Wash Rice: Place the measured rice in a separate bowl and wash it thoroughly under cold running water until the water runs clear. Drain well. (Note: Some rice types, like rinse-free rice, do not require washing.)
  3. Add Rice to Inner Pan: Transfer the washed rice to the inner cooking pan.
  4. Add Water: Fill the inner pan with water up to the corresponding water level mark for the type and quantity of rice being cooked. For example, for 3 cups of white rice, fill to the 'White Rice 3' line.
  5. Place Inner Pan: Insert the inner cooking pan into the main unit, ensuring it sits properly. Close the lid securely.
  6. Select Cooking Program: Press the 'Menu' button to cycle through the available cooking programs (e.g., White Rice, Brown Rice, Porridge). The selected program will be displayed on the LCD screen.
  7. Start Cooking: Press the 'Start' button. The cooking process will begin, and the remaining cooking time may be displayed.
  8. Keep Warm: Once cooking is complete, the rice cooker will automatically switch to the 'Keep Warm' mode. This function can keep rice warm for up to 12 hours.
  9. Serve: Open the lid, stir the rice gently with the provided rice spoon to release excess steam, and serve.

Pre-Programmed Cooking Options:

The SR-HZ106 offers 13 pre-set programs for various rice and grain types. Refer to the specific water level markings inside the inner pan for each type. Experimentation may be required to achieve desired consistency for specific brands or types of grains.

  • White Rice: Standard setting for regular white rice.
  • Brown Rice: Optimized for cooking whole grain brown rice, which requires more water and a longer cooking time.
  • Porridge/Congee: For preparing creamy rice porridge.
  • Quinoa: Specific setting for cooking quinoa.
  • Sticky Rice: For glutinous rice varieties.
  • Rinse-Free: For rice that does not require pre-washing.
  • Frozen Rice: Reheats or cooks frozen rice.
  • Multi-Cook: Use this setting for stews, soups, or other slow-cooked dishes. Follow recipe-specific instructions for ingredients and cooking times.

Timer Function:

The timer function allows you to set a delayed start time for cooking. Prepare the rice and water as usual, then use the 'Timer' buttons to set the desired completion time. Press 'Start' to activate the timer. The rice cooker will automatically begin cooking to ensure your meal is ready at the set time.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your rice cooker.

Before Cleaning:

  • Always unplug the rice cooker from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.

Inner Cooking Pan:
