Setup

1. Battery Installation

Batteries are required for both the digital display unit and the wireless outdoor sensor. Use high-quality alkaline batteries for optimal performance.

  1. For the Digital Display Unit: Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the display. Insert the required batteries, observing the polarity (+/-) diagrams. Close the cover securely.
  2. For the Wireless Outdoor Sensor: Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the sensor. Insert the required batteries, observing the polarity (+/-) diagrams. Close the cover securely.

Note: It is recommended to install batteries in the outdoor sensor first, then in the display unit, to ensure proper synchronization.

2. Sensor Placement

Proper placement of the outdoor sensor is crucial for accurate temperature readings and reliable wireless signal transmission.

  • Choose a location that is out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources (e.g., exhaust vents, windows).
  • Ensure the sensor is protected from direct precipitation.
  • Mount the sensor vertically to allow for proper drainage.
  • Place the sensor within the 165-foot (50-meter) wireless range of the display unit, minimizing obstructions like thick walls or large metal objects.

3. Display Unit Placement

The digital display unit is designed for indoor use.

  • Place the display unit on a flat surface, such as a table or shelf, or mount it on a wall using the integrated keyhole.
  • Ensure it is within range of the outdoor sensor and away from direct sunlight or heat sources that could affect its indoor temperature reading.

Operating Instructions

Reading Temperatures

Once powered on and synchronized, the display unit will show both indoor and outdoor temperatures. The outdoor temperature is typically displayed prominently at the top, with the indoor temperature below.

  • Temperature Units: The unit can display temperatures in Fahrenheit (°F) or Celsius (°C). Refer to the display unit's buttons (usually a small button on the back or side) to switch between these units.
  • Trend Arrows: Small arrows next to the temperature readings indicate whether the temperature is rising, falling, or remaining steady. An upward arrow signifies a rising temperature, a downward arrow signifies a falling temperature, and a horizontal arrow indicates a stable temperature.

Viewing High and Low Records

The AcuRite 02043 tracks high and low temperature records. These records can be viewed for specific time periods or as all-time records.

  • Press the "RECORDS" or similar button on the display unit to cycle through the high and low records for the past 12 hours, 24 hours, 36 hours, 48 hours, and all-time.
  • To clear the records, typically press and hold the "RECORDS" button for a few seconds until the display resets. Consult the specific button layout on your device.

Maintenance

Cleaning

To maintain the accuracy and appearance of your thermometer:

  • Wipe both the display unit and the outdoor sensor with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or chemicals, as these may damage the plastic housing or electronic components.

Battery Replacement

Replace batteries in both units when the low battery indicator appears on the display, or if readings become inconsistent. Always replace all batteries in a unit at the same time with new ones of the same type.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No outdoor temperature reading / Dashes on display
  • Sensor out of range.
