Setup and Installation

Attaching the Lens Adapter

The lens adapter is required to attach the 55mm filters to your Olympus Stylus 1 camera.

  1. Ensure your camera is powered off.
  2. Locate the filter thread on the front of your camera lens.
  3. Carefully screw the lens adapter onto the camera lens thread until it is secure. Do not overtighten.

Attaching Lens Filters

Once the lens adapter is installed, filters can be attached.

  1. Select the desired 55mm filter (UV, CPL, or FLD).
  2. Align the filter's thread with the thread on the lens adapter.
  3. Gently screw the filter onto the adapter in a clockwise direction until it is snug. Avoid excessive force.
  4. To remove, unscrew counter-clockwise.

Attaching the Neck Strap

The Krusell Multidapt Neck Strap provides a secure way to carry your camera.

  1. Locate the strap lugs on your camera body.
  2. Thread the small loop of the neck strap's quick-release buckle through the camera's strap lug.
  3. Secure the loop by passing the larger part of the buckle through it.

Filter Usage Guide

UV Filter (Ultraviolet)

The UV filter blocks ultraviolet light, which can cause haze or a bluish cast in photographs, especially in outdoor, high-altitude, or long-distance shots. Its primary function is also to protect the front element of your camera lens from dust, scratches, and moisture.

This image presents a side-by-side comparison of a puppy's face. The left side, labeled 'WITHOUT UV(1A) ULTRAVIOLET', shows a slightly softer image. The right side, labeled 'WITH UV(1A) ULTRAVIOLET', shows the same puppy with improved clarity and color saturation, indicating the effect of the UV filter.

Circular Polarizing (CPL) Filter

A CPL filter is used to manage reflections and enhance color saturation. It reduces glare from non-metallic surfaces like water or glass and deepens the blue of skies, making clouds more prominent. Rotate the outer ring of the filter while looking through the viewfinder or at the LCD screen to observe and adjust the polarizing effect.

This image shows a tree with green leaves against a blue sky. A circular overlay in the center, labeled 'WITH CPL', demonstrates the effect of a Circular Polarizing Filter, showing a deeper blue sky and more vibrant green leaves compared to the surrounding area labeled 'WITHOUT CPL'.

Fluorescent (FLD) Filter

The FLD filter is designed for color correction when shooting under fluorescent lighting. Fluorescent lights often cast a greenish tint on subjects; this filter helps to neutralize that tint, resulting in more natural skin tones and accurate colors.

This image is a split view of a person's face. The right side, labeled 'Without FLD', exhibits a noticeable greenish cast, typical under fluorescent lighting. The left side, labeled 'With FLD', shows corrected, more natural skin tones and colors, demonstrating the filter's effectiveness.

Care and Maintenance

Cleaning Filters

To maintain optimal performance, keep your filters clean.

  1. Use the provided microfiber cleaning cloth to gently wipe away dust and fingerprints.
  2. For stubborn smudges, breathe lightly on the filter surface to create condensation, then wipe with the microfiber cloth.
  3. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, which can damage the filter coatings.

Storage

Store filters in the provided filter pouch when not in use to protect them from dust and scratches. Keep all accessories in a dry, cool place.

Troubleshooting

Filter Not Screwing On

  • Ensure you are using the correct 55mm filter size and that the lens adapter is securely attached to your camera lens.
  • Check for any debris in the filter threads on both the filter and the adapter.
  • Avoid cross-threading; align carefully before rotating.

Image Quality Issues

  • If images appear blurry, ensure the filter is clean and free of smudges.
  • Verify that the filter is securely attached and not loose.
  • For CPL filters, rotate the outer ring to achieve the desired effect; incorrect rotation can lead to uneven polarization.
