Setup

1. Unpack and Inspect: Ensure all components are present and undamaged. The sprayer comes pre-assembled.
2. Prepare Concentrate: Turn the bottle counterclockwise to remove it from the sprayer head. Pour your liquid concentrate into the bottle. Use liquids only.
3. Set Metering Dial: Turn the metering dial to the concentrate manufacturer's recommended mixing rate per gallon. Note: Each measurement setting mixing rate is shown in teaspoons, tablespoons, and ounces of concentrate per gallon of water.
4. Attach to Hose: Attach the sprayer to your garden hose. Turn on water at the faucet.

Operating Instructions

1. Select Spray Pattern: Choose one of the four spray patterns on the front dial:
   • Gentle Spray: For delicate plants and precise control of herbicides.
   • Fan Spray Down: To cover lawn areas quickly.
   • Fan Spray Up: For quick coverage of shrubs and small trees.
   • Solid Stream: Up to 30 feet into trees or back into hard to reach areas.
2. Begin Spraying: Move the sprayer valve to the 'on' position. The concentrate will automatically mix with water at the rate set on the metering dial as you spray.
3. Stop Spraying: When finished, move the sprayer valve to the 'off' position.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Chapin G499 sprayer.

• Cleaning After Use: To clean, rinse the bottle with clean water, attach it to the sprayer, and spray to rinse the inside of the sprayer mechanism.
• Unused Product: Pour any unused product into a separate container for storage. Do not return to the concentrate container.
• Prevent Cross-Contamination: To avoid cross-contamination, it is recommended to use separate sprayers for herbicides, insecticides, and other concentrates.
• Storage: Store the sprayer in a clean, dry place away from extreme temperatures.

Troubleshooting

• No Spray or Weak Spray:
  • Check hose connection for leaks.
  • Ensure water pressure from the hose is adequate.
  • Verify the metering dial is not set to 'off' or a very low rate.
  • Clean the nozzle for any blockages.
• Leaking from Connections:
  • Tighten all connections, including the bottle to the sprayer head and the sprayer to the hose.
  • Check rubber gaskets or O-rings for wear or damage and replace if necessary.
• Inconsistent Mixing:
  • Ensure the concentrate is not too thick or has settled. Shake the bottle gently if needed.
  • Verify the metering dial is set correctly for the desired dilution.
