Preparing Espresso:

  1. Ensure the espresso water tank is filled with fresh, cold water.
  2. Insert the desired filter (1-cup or 2-cup) into the portafilter.
  3. Add finely ground espresso coffee to the filter. For a single espresso, use approximately 7g; for a double, use 14g. Level the coffee and tamp it firmly.

  5. Place one or two cups under the portafilter spouts.
  6. Turn the selector knob to the coffee cup symbol. Press the espresso ON/OFF button. The indicator light will illuminate.
  7. Once the coffee starts flowing, allow it to brew to your desired volume. Press the espresso ON/OFF button again to stop the flow.
  8. Carefully remove the portafilter and discard the used coffee grounds.

Preparing Filter Coffee:

  1. Ensure the filter coffee water tank is filled with fresh, cold water up to the desired number of cups.
  2. Open the filter holder compartment and insert a paper filter (size 1x4 or similar).
  3. Add medium-ground filter coffee to the paper filter. Use approximately 7g of coffee per cup, adjusting to taste.
  4. Close the filter holder compartment.
  5. Place the glass carafe on the warming plate.
  6. Press the filter coffee ON/OFF button. The indicator light will illuminate.
  7. The coffee will begin to brew and drip into the carafe. The warming plate will keep the coffee hot after brewing is complete.
  8. To turn off the filter coffee function, press the filter coffee ON/OFF button again.

Frothing Milk for Cappuccino/Latte:

  1. Ensure the espresso water tank is filled.
  2. Turn the selector knob to the steam symbol. Press the espresso ON/OFF button to heat the boiler for steam. The indicator light will blink and then become steady when ready.
  3. Fill a pitcher with cold milk (preferably semi-skimmed) to about one-third full.
  4. Position the steam wand just below the surface of the milk.
  5. Slowly turn the selector knob to the steam position to release steam. Move the pitcher up and down gently to incorporate air and create foam.
  6. Once the milk has frothed to your desired consistency and temperature, turn the selector knob back to the coffee cup symbol and then press the espresso ON/OFF button to stop the steam.
  7. Wipe the steam wand immediately with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your coffee maker.

Daily Cleaning:

  • Drip Tray: Empty and rinse the drip tray and grid daily.
  • Portafilter and Filters: After each use, remove the portafilter, discard grounds, and rinse the filter and portafilter under running water.
  • Steam Wand: Immediately after frothing milk, wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth. Purge a small amount of steam to clear any internal milk residue.
  • Glass Carafe and Filter Holder: Wash with warm, soapy water after each use.
  • Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the appliance with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

Descaling:

Limescale buildup can affect performance and taste. Descale your machine regularly, depending on water hardness and frequency of use (e.g., every 2-3 months).

  1. Use a commercial descaling solution specifically designed for coffee machines, following the manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Empty both water tanks. Pour the descaling solution mixed with water into the espresso water tank.
  3. Place a large container under the espresso spouts and the steam wand.
  4. Run half of the solution through the espresso spouts.
  5. Turn the selector knob to the steam position and dispense the remaining solution through the steam wand.
  6. Repeat the process for the filter coffee section, pouring the descaling solution into its water tank and running it through.
  7. After descaling, rinse both tanks thoroughly and run several cycles of fresh water through both sections to remove any descaling solution residue.
