Mounting the Amplifier
Choose a mounting location that is dry, well-ventilated, and protected from direct sunlight or excessive heat. Ensure sufficient space around the amplifier for proper cooling. Secure the amplifier using the provided mounting hardware.
Wiring Connections
The PV3700 amplifier requires an 8-gauge wiring kit for optimal performance. Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated.

Image: A detailed view of the rear panel of the PV3700 amplifier, highlighting the power connections (BATT+, REMOTE, GROUND), fuses, and speaker terminals.
- Power (BATT+): Connect an 8-gauge power cable from the vehicle's positive battery terminal to the BATT+ terminal on the amplifier. Install an in-line fuse holder within 18 inches of the battery.
- Ground (GND): Connect an 8-gauge ground cable from the GND terminal on the amplifier to a clean, unpainted metal surface on the vehicle's chassis. Ensure a solid, low-resistance connection.
- Remote (REM): Connect a remote turn-on wire from your head unit's remote output to the REM terminal on the amplifier. This wire signals the amplifier to turn on and off with your head unit.
- Speaker Connections: Connect your speakers to the appropriate speaker terminals (CH1-CH4 for full-range, CH5 for subwoofer). Observe correct polarity (+ to + and - to -). The amplifier supports 2 to 8 Ohm speaker impedance.
Input Connections

Image: The front panel of the PV3700 amplifier, detailing the high-level inputs, low-level RCA inputs, variable gain control, input mode switch, and remote subwoofer level control port.
- Low-Level RCA Inputs: For head units with RCA pre-outs, connect RCA cables from the head unit to the amplifier's CH1/CH2, CH3/CH4, and SUB inputs.
- High-Level Inputs: If your head unit does not have RCA outputs, use the high-level inputs. Connect the speaker wires from your head unit to the high-level input connector on the amplifier.
Remote Subwoofer Control
Connect the included remote subwoofer control to the "REMOTE SUBWOOFER LEVEL CONTROL" port on the amplifier. This allows for convenient adjustment of the subwoofer's bass level from the driver's seat.
Operation
Adjusting Controls
The PV3700 features several adjustable controls to fine-tune your audio system:
- Variable Gain Control (Input Level): Adjusts the input sensitivity of the amplifier to match the output of your head unit. Start with the gain at minimum and slowly increase until desired volume is achieved without distortion.
- Bass Boost: Provides adjustable bass enhancement. Use sparingly to avoid distortion.
- Crossover Frequency (LPF/HPF):
- Low Pass Filter (LPF): Filters out high frequencies, typically used for subwoofers.
- High Pass Filter (HPF): Filters out low frequencies, typically used for full-range speakers.
- Input Mode Switch: Selects the amplifier's channel configuration (e.g., 2, 4, or 5 channels).
Bridged Mode
Channels 1-4 can be bridged to deliver more power to a single speaker or subwoofer. Refer to the wiring diagram in the full manual for specific instructions on bridging channels.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the amplifier. Do not use harsh chemicals or solvents.
- Fuse Replacement: If a fuse blows, replace it only with a fuse of the same type and amperage rating (2 x 40 Amp ATO Blade). Using an incorrect fuse can cause damage or fire.
- Ventilation: Ensure the amplifier's cooling fins are free from obstructions to prevent overheating.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No Power / Power LED Off | Blown fuse, loose power/ground connection, no remote signal. | Check and replace fuses. Verify all power, ground, and remote connections are secure. |
| Protection LED On | Overheating, short circuit in speaker wiring, speaker impedance too low. | Ensure proper ventilation. Check speaker wiring for shorts. Verify speaker impedance is within 2-8 Ohm range. |
| No Sound Output | Incorrect input level, loose RCA/speaker connections, head unit issue. | Adjust input level. Check all audio input and speaker connections. Test head unit functionality. |
| Distorted Sound | Gain set too high, improper crossover settings, poor quality audio source. | Lower gain setting. Adjust LPF/HPF. Use a high-quality audio source. |
