Setup

1. Charging the Printer

Before first use, fully charge your Polaroid ZIP printer. Connect the included Micro USB cable to the printer's Micro USB Port and the other end to a USB power adapter (not included) or a computer's USB port. The Charging Indicator LED will show the charging status.

2. Loading ZINK Paper

The Polaroid ZIP printer uses special ZINK Zero Ink paper. A 10-pack of Polaroid ZINK Photo Paper is included with your printer.

  1. Slide the top cover of the printer off to reveal the paper compartment.
  2. Insert a pack of 2x3 inch ZINK paper into the compartment. Ensure the blue calibration sheet is at the bottom of the stack, facing downwards.
  3. Close the top cover securely.

3. App Installation and Device Pairing

The Polaroid ZIP printer requires the Polaroid ZIP App for iOS or Android devices.

  1. Download the App: Search for "Polaroid ZIP" in the Apple App Store (for iOS) or Google Play Store (for Android) and install it on your smartphone or tablet.
  2. Turn on the Printer: Press and hold the Power Button for a few seconds until the Status Indicator LED flashes, indicating Bluetooth is active.
  3. Pairing via Bluetooth:
    • Open the Polaroid ZIP App.
    • Navigate to the device connection settings within the app (often labeled "My ZIP" or similar).
    • Select your Polaroid ZIP printer from the list of available Bluetooth devices to pair.
  4. Pairing via NFC (Android only):
    • Ensure NFC is enabled on your Android device.
    • Tap your Android device to the NFC tag area on the Polaroid ZIP printer. The app should launch and connect automatically.

Operating Instructions

Once your printer is charged and paired, you can start printing your photos.

1. Quick Print

For immediate printing of photos from your device's gallery or directly from the camera.

  1. Open the Polaroid ZIP App.

  3. Choose to either take a new photo using your device's camera or select an existing photo from your gallery.

  5. Tap the print icon. The image will be sent to the printer, and the photo will emerge from the paper output slot.

2. Editing Prints

The app offers various editing tools to enhance your photos before printing.

  1. Select "Edit Print" from the main app menu.
  2. Choose a photo from your gallery or take a new one.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning the Printer

To ensure optimal print quality, keep your printer clean.

  • Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to wipe the exterior of the printer.
  • Avoid using liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • The ZINK paper packs include a blue calibration sheet. Running this sheet through the printer can help clean the print head.

2. Paper Replacement

When the printer runs out of paper, simply open the top cover and insert a new pack of Polaroid ZINK Photo Paper, ensuring the blue calibration sheet is at the bottom.

Troubleshooting

  • Printer Not Connecting: Ensure Bluetooth (and NFC for Android) is enabled on your device and the printer is turned on. Try restarting both the printer and your device.
  • Poor Print Quality (Colors/Darkness): Print quality can sometimes vary. Ensure your original image is well-lit and clear. You can use the app's editing features to adjust brightness and contrast before printing.
  • Printer Not Responding: Use a small pin or paperclip to press the Reset Button on the printer.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check the Polaroid ZIP App for available firmware updates. These updates can improve performance and resolve known issues. Access this via the "My ZIP" section in the app.
  • Paper Jams: Carefully open the top cover and gently remove any jammed paper. Ensure paper is loaded correctly.
