Introduction to Mastermind
The Mastermind Game is a classic game of logic and deduction designed for two players. One player acts as the Codemaker, creating a secret code using colored pegs. The other player, the Codebreaker, attempts to guess the secret code in a limited number of turns. This game challenges your strategic thinking and deductive reasoning skills with over two thousand possible combinations, providing hours of engaging gameplay.

Setup
- Player Roles: Decide which player will be the Codemaker and which will be the Codebreaker.
- Board Placement: Place the game board between the two players so that the Code Peg Shield faces the Codemaker.
- Peg Distribution: Open the storage tray. Keep the Code Pegs (large colored pegs) in the larger compartment and the Key Pegs (small red and white pegs) in the smaller compartment.
- Codemaker's Secret Code: The Codemaker secretly places four Code Pegs in the designated holes behind the Code Peg Shield. These pegs form the secret code. The Codemaker can use any combination of the six colors, including using two or more of the same color. The Code Peg Shield should be lowered to conceal the code from the Codebreaker.
Playing the Game
- Codebreaker's Guess: The Codebreaker places four Code Pegs in the first row of holes on their side of the board, attempting to duplicate the exact colors and positions of the secret code.
- Codemaker's Response: After each guess, the Codemaker provides feedback using the small Key Pegs:
- Red Key Peg: For each Code Peg that is the correct color and in the correct position.
- White Key Peg: For each Code Peg that is the correct color but in the wrong position.
- No Key Pegs are placed for incorrect colors or colors that are not part of the secret code.
Note: The order of the Key Pegs does not indicate which Code Pegs they refer to. A Red Key Peg takes precedence over a White Key Peg if a peg is both the right color and in the right position.
- Continuing Play: The Codebreaker uses the feedback to make their next guess in the following row. This continues until the Codebreaker either guesses the secret code correctly or runs out of rows.
- Winning the Game: The Codebreaker wins if they successfully guess the secret code. The Codemaker wins if the Codebreaker fails to guess the secret code within the allotted number of rows.
