Introduction
Thank you for choosing the Craftsman C3 19.2 Volt 3/8 Inch Drill Driver. This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your new tool. Please read it thoroughly before use and keep it for future reference.
This drill driver is designed for drilling into wood, metal, and plastic, as well as for driving and removing screws. It operates on the Craftsman C3 19.2 Volt battery system (battery and charger sold separately).
General Safety Information
Always follow basic safety precautions to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury when using power tools.
- Work Area Safety: Keep your work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
- Electrical Safety: Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges, and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is grounded.
- Personal Safety: Always wear eye protection. Use a dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection for appropriate conditions. Dress properly; avoid loose clothing or jewelry. Keep hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving parts.
- Tool Use and Care: Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. Disconnect the battery pack from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools.

3. Torque Adjustment
- Rotate the torque adjustment collar to select the desired torque setting. Lower numbers are for driving small screws or into soft materials. Higher numbers are for driving larger screws or into harder materials.
- The drill driver also has a drill mode setting (indicated by a drill bit icon) for drilling applications, which provides maximum torque.
4. Drilling Techniques
- Always secure the workpiece to prevent it from rotating.
- Apply light, steady pressure. Do not force the drill.
- For metal drilling, use a center punch to mark the hole location and apply cutting oil to the drill bit.
5. Screwdriving Techniques
- Select an appropriate torque setting to prevent stripping screw heads or damaging the workpiece.
- Use the correct type and size of screwdriver bit for the screw head.
- Apply firm, steady pressure to keep the bit engaged with the screw head.
Maintenance
1. Cleaning
- Keep the tool's air vents clear to prevent overheating.
- Wipe the tool with a clean, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
2. Storage
- Store the drill driver in a dry, secure location out of reach of children.
