Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials and promotional labels from your grinder.
- Initial Cleaning: Wash the bean hopper, grinds container, and lid in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely. Wipe the exterior of the motor base with a soft, damp cloth.
- Assemble Bean Hopper: Align the arrow on the base of the bean hopper with the UNLOCK position on the grinder base. Insert the hopper and turn clockwise until it clicks into the LOCK position.
- Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a 120V power outlet.
Operating Instructions
The Breville Dose Control Pro offers precise control over grind size and time for various brewing methods.
1. Filling the Bean Hopper
- Ensure the bean hopper is securely locked in place.
- Remove the lid and pour fresh, whole coffee beans into the hopper. Do not fill past the MAX line.
- Replace the lid firmly.

2. Adjusting Grind Size
The grinder features 60 distinct grind settings, from very fine for espresso to coarse for French Press. Rotate the Grind Size Selector dial to choose your desired setting.
- Fine Settings (1-10): Ideal for Espresso.
- Medium Settings (11-30): Suitable for Drip Coffee.
- Coarse Settings (31-60): Best for French Press.
For finer adjustments, the top burr can be adjusted. Refer to the Maintenance section for instructions on accessing and adjusting the top burr.

3. Setting Grind Time
Use the Grind Time dial to select the desired grinding duration in 1-second increments. This ensures a consistent dose each time.

4. Grinding Process
- For Portafilter: Place your portafilter into the appropriate cradle. The grinder will automatically activate when the portafilter is inserted and pressed against the activation switch.
- For Grinds Container: Place the grinds container with its lid removed under the grinds outlet. Press the START/CANCEL button to begin grinding.
- The grinder will stop automatically once the set grind time is complete. To stop grinding manually, press the START/CANCEL button again.

Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your grinder.
Daily Cleaning
- Empty and clean the grinds container or portafilter after each use.
- Wipe down the exterior of the grinder with a soft, damp cloth.
Cleaning the Conical Burrs
It is recommended to clean the burrs regularly, especially if you notice a decrease in grind consistency or flow.
- Unplug the grinder from the power outlet.
- Remove the bean hopper by turning it counter-clockwise to the UNLOCK position and lifting it off.
- Remove the upper conical burr by grasping its handle and turning it counter-clockwise. Lift it out.
- Use the provided cleaning brush to remove any loose coffee grounds from both the upper and lower burrs.
- To adjust the internal burr setting (if needed for finer grind): Rotate the adjustable ring on the upper burr. A lower number indicates a finer grind.
- Reinsert the upper burr, aligning the tabs, and turn clockwise until it locks into place.
- Replace and lock the bean hopper.
