1. Introduction and Overview
The Canon PowerShot SX610 HS is a compact digital camera designed for versatility and ease of use. 2. What's in the Box
Upon opening your Canon PowerShot SX610 HS package, please ensure all the following items are present:

3. Setup
3.1. Installing the Battery Pack
- Open the battery compartment cover located on the bottom of the camera.
- Insert the Battery Pack NB-6LH, ensuring the contacts align correctly. Push the battery until it clicks into place.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
3.2. Charging the Battery
Use the provided Battery Charger CB-2LY to charge the Battery Pack NB-6LH. Connect the charger to a power outlet and insert the battery. The charging indicator light will show the charging status.
3.3. Inserting a Memory Card
The camera uses Micro SD memory cards (up to 1 TB supported). Open the memory card slot cover, insert the Micro SD card with the contacts facing down until it clicks, and then close the cover.
3.4. Initial Power On and Date/Time Settings
Press the ON/OFF button to power on the camera. The first time you power on, you may be prompted to set the date, time, and time zone. Follow the on-screen instructions using the directional buttons and FUNC./SET button.
4. Operating the Camera
4.1. Basic Shooting
To take a photo:
- Turn on the camera by pressing the ON/OFF button.
- Point the camera at your subject. The camera will automatically focus.
- Press the shutter button halfway down to focus, then press it fully to capture the image.

4.2. Using the Optical Zoom
The camera features an 18x optical zoom lens (25-450mm equivalent). Use the zoom lever around the shutter button to zoom in (telephoto) or zoom out (wide-angle). The Intelligent IS system helps to minimize blur from camera shake, especially at longer zoom settings.

4.3. Flash Modes
The camera has a built-in flash. To activate the flash, slide the flash switch to pop it up. You can select various flash modes (Auto, On, Slow Synchro, Off) through the camera's menu or dedicated flash button, depending on the shooting mode.
4.4. Recording Videos
To record Full HD (1080p) video:
- Press the dedicated movie button (usually marked with a red dot) to start recording.
- Press the movie button again to stop recording.

5. Maintenance
5.1. Cleaning the Camera
- Camera Body: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the camera body. For stubborn dirt, lightly dampen the cloth with water.
