Setup

Unpacking and Initial Inspection

Carefully remove the printer from its packaging. Ensure all packing materials, including tapes and protective films, are removed from the exterior and interior of the device. Verify that the following components are present:

• Starter Toner Cartridge

• Installation CD (if included)

Connecting the Printer

The MB472W supports USB, Ethernet, and Wireless connectivity.

1. Power Connection: Connect the power cord to the printer's power input and then to a grounded electrical outlet.
2. USB Connection (Optional): For direct connection to a computer, connect a USB cable (not included) from the printer to your computer.

Control Panel Overview

The control panel features a 3.5" backlit LCD display, one-touch function buttons, and an alphanumeric keypad for easy navigation and operation.

Loading Paper

The printer features a 250-sheet input tray and a 100-sheet multi-purpose tray (MPT). Ensure paper is loaded correctly to prevent jams.

• Open the paper tray and adjust the guides to fit the paper size (up to 8.5 x 14 inches).
• Insert the paper stack, ensuring it is flat and not exceeding the maximum fill line.
• Close the tray securely.

Printing Documents

From your computer, select the OKI Data MB472W as your printer. Adjust print settings such as paper size, orientation, and duplex printing as needed. Click "Print" to send the job to the printer.

Scanning Documents

Place documents on the scanner glass or in the automatic document feeder (ADF). On the control panel, select "Scan". Choose scan destination (e.g., computer, email) and desired settings. Note: Scanned documents are typically saved in JPEG format. For PDF conversion, external software may be required.

Copying Documents

Place the document on the scanner glass or in the ADF. Press the "Copy" button on the control panel. Enter the number of copies and adjust settings like darkness or reduction/enlargement. Press "Start" to begin copying.

Faxing Documents

Place the document in the ADF. Press the "Fax" button on the control panel. Enter the recipient's fax number using the keypad. Press "Start" to send the fax.

Maintenance

Replacing Toner Cartridge

When the "Toner Low" or "Toner Empty" message appears on the display, it is time to replace the toner cartridge.

1. Open the front cover of the printer.
2. Carefully remove the old toner cartridge by pulling it towards you.
3. Unpack the new toner cartridge and gently shake it horizontally a few times to distribute the toner.
4. Insert the new cartridge into the printer until it clicks into place.
5. Close the front cover.

Cleaning the Printer

Regular cleaning helps maintain print quality and extends the life of your printer.

• Exterior: Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp, lint-free cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
• Scanner Glass: Use a soft cloth dampened with glass cleaner to clean the scanner glass. Ensure no residue remains.
• Interior: Periodically open the front cover and gently remove any dust or paper debris using a dry, lint-free cloth or a small vacuum cleaner designed for electronics.
