Setup

1. Placement

Place the M6SCD on a stable, level surface, away from direct heat sources and strong electromagnetic fields. Ensure there is adequate ventilation around the unit, especially on the sides and top, to prevent overheating.

2. Connecting to Power

Connect the supplied power cable to the IEC inlet on the rear panel of the M6SCD and then to a suitable wall outlet. Ensure the power outlet matches the voltage requirements of the unit.

3. Connecting to an Audio System (Analog Output)

To use the M6SCD as a CD player or DAC with its internal D/A conversion, connect its analog RCA outputs to an available analog input on your amplifier or preamplifier using high-quality RCA interconnect cables.

4. Connecting Digital Sources (DAC Functionality)

The M6SCD can act as a high-performance DAC for external digital sources. Connect your digital source to the corresponding input on the M6SCD's rear panel:

  • USB: Connect a computer or other USB audio device to the USB Type B input using the supplied USB cable. You may need to install specific drivers for your operating system (refer to Musical Fidelity's website for driver downloads if necessary).
  • Coaxial: Connect a CD transport, streamer, or other device with a coaxial digital output to one of the M6SCD's coaxial inputs.
  • Optical: Connect a TV, game console, or other device with an optical digital output to one of the M6SCD's optical inputs.

Operating Instructions

1. Powering On/Off

Press the Power button on the front panel or the remote control to turn the unit on or off. The display will illuminate when the unit is powered on.

2. CD Playback

  1. Ensure the M6SCD is powered on and the input is set to "CD" (either automatically or by pressing the CD input button).
  2. Press the Open/Close button to open the CD tray/slot.
  3. Carefully insert a CD with the label side facing up.
  4. Press the Open/Close button again to close the tray. The unit will read the disc.
  5. Press the Play/Pause button to begin playback.
  6. Use the Skip Forward and Skip Backward buttons to navigate between tracks.
  7. Press Stop to halt playback.

3. Using as a DAC (External Digital Inputs)

To use the M6SCD with an external digital source:

  1. Ensure your external digital source is connected to the appropriate input on the M6SCD (USB, Coaxial, or Optical).
  2. Press the corresponding input button on the front panel (USB, COAX, or OPTICAL) or use the remote control to select the desired input. The display will indicate the active input.
  3. Begin playback from your external digital source. The M6SCD will process the digital audio signal and output it through its analog RCA outputs.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Unit

Always unplug the M6SCD from the power outlet before cleaning. Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to wipe the exterior surfaces. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents, as these can damage the finish.

CD Care

Handle CDs by their edges. Keep them clean and free of dust, fingerprints, and scratches. Store CDs in their cases when not in use. A dirty or damaged CD can cause playback issues.
