The D 10 USB ML headset offers three wearing styles for user comfort and preference:

  • Headband: Attach the headset to the provided headband for a traditional over-the-head fit.
  • Ear Hook: Use the bendable ear hook for an on-ear wearing style. This is pre-mounted on the headset.

Adjust the microphone boom for optimal voice pickup, positioning it approximately two finger-widths from your mouth.

5. Operating Instructions

  • Answering/Ending Calls: Use the dedicated call control button on the headset or your softphone application.
  • Volume Control: Adjust the listening volume using the controls on the headset.
  • Mute Function: Press the mute button on the headset to temporarily disable your microphone. Note that some software configurations may produce an audible beep when muted.

5.2. Wireless Range

The DECT wireless technology provides a range of up to 180 meters (590 feet) with line of sight. In a typical office environment, the effective range is approximately 55 meters (180 feet). This allows for mobility during calls.

5.3. Conferencing

Up to four D 10 headsets can be paired to a single base station for conference calls. This feature simplifies multi-user communication from a shared base.

6. Battery and Charging

The headset is equipped with a Lithium Polymer battery. It provides up to 12 hours of talk time on a full charge. Charging is performed by placing the headset on its base station. A full charge takes approximately 40 minutes, with a fast charge providing up to 50% battery in just 20 minutes.

Status indicators on the base station show the available talk time and charging status.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the headset and base station. Avoid using liquid cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the headset on its charging base to ensure it is always ready for use and to prolong battery life.
  • Battery Care: While the headset has a robust battery, extreme temperatures can affect its lifespan. Store and operate within recommended temperature ranges.

8. Troubleshooting

  • No Sound/Poor Sound Quality:
    • Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the base station and your PC.
    • Verify that the headset is properly seated on the base station and charged.
    • Check your PC's audio settings to confirm the Sennheiser D 10 USB ML is selected as the default playback and recording device.
    • Restart your softphone application or PC.
  • Mute Beep: Some users may experience an incessant beeping sound when the headset is muted. This is often a software-related notification. Check your softphone application's settings for options to disable mute notifications. If using proprietary software, consult the software's documentation or support.
  • Headset Not Pairing: If the headset does not connect to the base station, try re-pairing according to the instructions in the Quick Guide. Ensure no other DECT devices are causing interference.
  • Limited Wireless Range: Ensure there are no major obstructions (e.g., thick walls, large metal objects) between the headset and the base station. Reduce potential interference from other wireless devices.
