1. Introduction

The JOYO JF-313 Old School Distortion is a compact electric guitar effect pedal designed to produce classic distortion tones. This manual provides detailed instructions for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your JF-313 pedal.

2. Safety Precautions

  • Use only a DC 9V power adapter with negative polarity (not supplied). Incorrect power supply may damage the unit.
  • Do not expose the unit to water, moisture, or extreme temperatures.
  • Avoid dropping or subjecting the unit to strong impacts.
  • Do not attempt to open or repair the unit yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.

3. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your JF-313 pedal:

  1. Power Connection: Connect a DC 9V negative polarity power adapter (not included) to the DC IN jack on the side of the pedal.
  2. Input Connection: Connect your electric guitar to the INPUT jack on the right side of the pedal using a standard 1/4-inch instrument cable.
  3. Output Connection: Connect the OUTPUT jack on the left side of the pedal to your amplifier or other effects pedals using a standard 1/4-inch instrument cable.
  4. Placement: Place the pedal on a stable surface or integrate it into your pedalboard. The pedal comes with 3M self-adhesive rubber and Velcro pads for secure mounting.

4. Operating Instructions

The JF-313 Old School Distortion pedal features four control knobs and a footswitch for activation. The pedal utilizes a true bypass design, ensuring your guitar's signal remains unaffected when the pedal is disengaged.

4.1 Controls and Functions

  • HIGH: This knob controls the high-frequency equalization (EQ) of the distorted tone. Turn clockwise to increase treble, counter-clockwise to decrease.
  • LOW: This knob controls the low-frequency equalization (EQ) of the distorted tone. Turn clockwise to increase bass, counter-clockwise to decrease. This pedal offers a 30dB low-mid boost capability.
  • VOLUME: Adjusts the overall output level of the pedal. Turn clockwise to increase volume, counter-clockwise to decrease.
  • GAIN: Controls the amount of distortion. Turn clockwise for more saturation and sustain, counter-clockwise for less.
  • FOOTSWITCH (DPDT switch): Engages or disengages the distortion effect. When engaged, the LED indicator will illuminate. This pedal features true bypass switching.

4.2 Engaging the Effect

To activate the distortion effect, press the footswitch. The LED indicator will light up, indicating the effect is active. Press the footswitch again to bypass the effect.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the pedal's exterior. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, disconnect the power adapter and store the pedal in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
  • Power Supply: Always ensure you are using the correct DC 9V negative polarity power adapter to prevent damage.

6. Troubleshooting
