Setup

  1. Placement: Place the dispenser on a flat, level, and sturdy surface. Ensure there is at least 4 inches (10 cm) of clearance from the back and sides to allow for proper ventilation. Avoid placing it in direct sunlight or near heat-generating appliances.
  2. Install Drip Tray: Slide the drip tray and its grill into the designated slot below the dispensing area.
  3. Prepare Water Bottle: Clean the neck of a new 3 or 5 gallon water bottle. Remove the protective cap from the bottle.
  4. Load Water Bottle: Carefully lift the water bottle and align it with the piercing probe on top of the dispenser. Push down firmly until the bottle is securely seated and water begins to flow into the dispenser's reservoir.
  5. Initial Flushing: Before plugging in the unit, place a large container under each faucet (hot, room, cold) and dispense water until it flows steadily from all three. This purges air from the lines and ensures proper filling of the internal tanks.
  6. Connect Power: Plug the power cord into a grounded 120V AC electrical outlet. The indicator lights will illuminate.
  7. Heating/Cooling: Allow approximately 15-20 minutes for the water to reach optimal hot and cold temperatures before first use.

Operating Instructions

Your Glacier Bay water dispenser offers three temperature options: hot, room, and cold.

  • Dispensing Cold Water: Place your cup under the cold water faucet (typically blue). Press the cold water button/lever to dispense. Release to stop.
  • Dispensing Room Temperature Water: Place your cup under the room temperature water faucet (if applicable, often a gray or white button). Press the room temperature button/lever to dispense. Release to stop.
  • Dispensing Hot Water: Place your cup under the hot water faucet (typically red). This dispenser features a safety lock for hot water. Simultaneously press the safety button and the hot water button/lever to dispense. Release both to stop. Always exercise caution with hot water.
  • LED Night Light: The dispenser includes an LED night light for improved visibility in low-light conditions. This feature typically activates automatically or can be toggled via a dedicated switch (refer to specific model details if available on the unit).
  • Patented Kettle Feature: This feature allows for steaming hot water at the push of a button without constant re-heating. Simply press the hot water button (with safety lock) to activate this function for immediate hot water.

Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your dispenser.

  • Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. For stainless steel parts, use a stainless steel cleaner. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Drip Tray: The drip tray should be emptied and cleaned regularly to prevent overflow and bacterial growth. Remove the grill, empty the tray, wash with mild soap and water, rinse thoroughly, and replace.
  • Internal Cleaning (Sanitization): It is recommended to sanitize the internal water tanks and lines every 3-6 months.
    1. Unplug the dispenser and remove the water bottle.
    2. Drain all water from the hot and cold tanks using the faucets and the drain plug at the back of the unit (if present).
    3. Prepare a sanitizing solution (e.g., 1 teaspoon of bleach per gallon of water, or a food-grade sanitizing solution).
    4. Pour the solution into the top reservoir. Allow it to sit for 15-20 minutes.
    5. Drain the solution completely through all faucets and the back drain plug.
    6. Rinse the dispenser thoroughly by filling the reservoir with clean water and draining it completely several times until no bleach odor remains.
    7. Replace the water bottle and plug in the unit.
  • Filter Compatibility: This dispenser is compatible with Greenway and Vitapur filtration systems. If using such a system, follow the filter manufacturer's instructions for installation and replacement.
