1. Introduction

The Lascar Electronics EL-DataPad is a portable, handheld device designed to streamline the process of configuring and downloading data from compatible EL-USB data loggers. It enables on-site viewing of logged data and graphic trends, reducing the need to return loggers to a PC for data retrieval. 4. Setup

4.1 Initial Charging

Before first use, fully charge the EL-DataPad's internal lithium polymer battery. Connect the supplied USB cable to the Micro USB port on the EL-DataPad and the other end to a powered USB port (e.g., computer, USB wall adapter). The charging indicator on the device will provide status.

4.2 Powering On/Off

Press and hold the power button (location specified in device diagram) to turn the EL-DataPad on or off. The touchscreen will illuminate upon startup.

4.3 Connecting an EL-USB Data Logger

To connect an EL-USB data logger, simply plug it directly into the USB port located on the EL-DataPad. The device will automatically detect the connected logger.

5. Operating Instructions

The EL-DataPad features a user-friendly 2.8-inch TFT touchscreen interface. Navigation is performed by tapping the desired options on the screen.

5.1 Main Menu Options

Upon connecting an EL-USB data logger, the main menu will typically present the following options:

• Set-Up Logger: Allows you to configure the settings of a connected EL-USB data logger, such as logging rate, start mode, and alarm thresholds.
• Stop Logger & Download: Initiates the process to stop an active data logger and transfer its recorded data to the EL-DataPad's internal memory.
• View Data: Accesses the data stored on the EL-DataPad. You can view data in summary form or as graphical trends.
• Settings: Accesses device settings such as date, time, and display brightness.

5.2 Data Transfer to PC

To transfer data from the EL-DataPad to your computer:

1. Connect the EL-DataPad to your computer using the supplied Micro USB cable.
2. The EL-DataPad will appear as a removable storage device on your computer.
3. Navigate to the EL-DataPad's storage. Downloaded data is saved in .Csv format, making it compatible with spreadsheet software like Microsoft Excel.
4. For advanced graphing and analysis, use the EL-WIN-USB software, which is compatible with the EL-USB data loggers.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

Clean the EL-DataPad's exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the casing or screen. Ensure the USB ports are free from dust and debris.

6.2 Battery Care

The EL-DataPad contains a rechargeable lithium polymer battery. To prolong battery life:

• Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently.
• Store the device in a cool, dry place when not in use for extended periods.
• Recharge the battery periodically if stored for a long time to prevent deep discharge.

6.3 Storage

When not in use, store the EL-DataPad in a protective environment, away from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, and high humidity. A protective cover (available separately) can enhance durability and grip.
