3. Setup
3.1 Unpacking and Inspection
- Carefully remove the paper cutter from its packaging.
- Inspect the unit for any signs of damage that may have occurred during transit. Contact customer support if any damage is found.
- Ensure all components are present, including the cutting arm, paper clamp, and any included tools.
3.2 Handle Assembly
The cutting handle may be mounted in a reversed position for shipping protection. To prepare for use:
- Locate the appropriate wrench (often found in the integrated toolbox).
- Unscrew the bolt securing the handle.
- Re-position the handle in the correct operational orientation and securely fasten the bolt.

3.3 Placement
Place the cutter on a sturdy, flat, and level surface capable of supporting its weight. Ensure there is adequate space around the cutter for safe operation and material handling.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Preparing Material
- Stack the paper or material to be cut evenly. Ensure the stack does not exceed the maximum cutting capacity (refer to specifications).
- Align the stack against the back gauge and the side guide on the cutting base. Use the measurement grid for precise sizing.
4.2 Securing the Paper Clamp
Tighten the paper clamp firmly to hold the paper stack securely in place. This prevents shifting during the cut, ensuring a clean and accurate result.
4.3 Engaging the Safety Lock
Before making a cut, the safety lock must be disengaged. When the handle is raised to a certain height, press the safety button to release the lock.

4.4 Making a Cut
- With the paper secured and the safety lock disengaged, firmly grasp the cutting handle.
- Apply steady, even pressure to pull the handle down in a single, smooth motion. Avoid jerky movements.
- Once the cut is complete, return the handle to its upright position and engage the safety lock.
- Release the paper clamp and remove the cut material.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Blade Care
The hardened steel blade is designed for durability but will dull over time with use. A dull blade can lead to uneven or ragged cuts.
- Sharpening: The blade can be professionally sharpened. Consult a professional knife sharpening service.
- Replacement: If the blade is severely worn or damaged, new replacement blades can be purchased separately from HFS. Always ensure the safety lock is engaged and exercise extreme caution when handling the blade during replacement.

5.2 Cleaning
Regular cleaning helps maintain the cutter's performance and longevity.
- Wipe down the cutting surface and other components with a dry, soft cloth after each use to remove paper dust and debris.
- For stubborn marks, use a mild cleaner and ensure all surfaces are thoroughly dried afterward.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish or markings.
6. Troubleshooting
6.1 Uneven or Ragged Cuts
- Dull Blade: The most common cause. Refer to Section 5.1 for blade care.
- Insufficient Clamping: Ensure the paper clamp is tightened sufficiently to prevent paper movement.
- Improper Alignment: Verify that the paper stack is correctly aligned against the back gauge and side guide.
- Overloading: Do not exceed the maximum cutting capacity. Cut smaller stacks if necessary.
6.2 Difficulty Lowering Cutting Arm
- Safety Lock Engaged: Ensure the safety lock button is pressed to disengage the lock before attempting to cut.
- Obstruction: Check for any debris or foreign objects obstructing the blade path or hinge mechanism.
