1. Introduction

The Sony Alpha a5100 is a compact mirrorless digital camera designed for high-quality photography and videography. 3.1 Front View

3.5 Bottom View (Battery/Card Slot)

The bottom of the camera houses the battery and memory card compartment, secured by a latch. A standard tripod mount thread is also present for attaching the camera to a tripod or other accessories.

4. Setup

4.1 Charging the Battery

  1. Insert the supplied NP-FW50 rechargeable battery into the camera.
  2. Connect the camera to the AC adaptor (AC-UB10) using the Micro USB cable.
  3. Plug the AC adaptor into a wall outlet. The charge lamp will light up.
  4. Charging is complete when the charge lamp turns off.

4.2 Inserting a Memory Card

  1. Open the battery/memory card cover on the bottom of the camera.
  2. Insert a compatible SD/SDHC/SDXC or Memory Stick Pro Duo/Pro-HG Duo card with the notched corner facing as shown in the diagram inside the compartment.
  3. Push the card in until it clicks into place.
  4. Close the cover securely.

4.3 Attaching the Lens

  1. Remove the body cap from the camera and the rear lens cap from the lens.
  2. Align the white index mark on the lens with the white index mark on the camera body.
  3. Mount the lens by turning it clockwise until it clicks into place.
  4. Remove the front lens cap.

5. Operating the Camera

5.1 Basic Shooting Modes

Turn the mode dial to select your desired shooting mode:

5.2 Recording Videos

To record a video, press the dedicated MOVIE button on the rear of the camera. Press it again to stop recording. The camera supports Full HD 1080/24/60P video up to 50MB/s.

The a5100's 179-point AF system ensures excellent tracking of moving subjects during video capture.

5.3 Using the Built-in Flash

The a5100 features a built-in pop-up flash. To activate it, press the flash button located on the top-left side of the camera (when viewed from the rear). The flash will automatically pop up. You can select various flash modes (Automatic, Fill Flash) through the camera's menu.

5.4 Wi-Fi and NFC Connectivity

The camera supports Wi-Fi and NFC (Near Field Communication) for easy sharing and remote control:

5.5 Selfie Mode with Flip-Up Screen

The 3-inch LCD screen can be tilted 180° upwards, allowing for easy self-portraits and vlogging. This feature enables you to monitor your framing and composition while being in front of the camera.

The camera includes a multi-interface shoe on top for attaching various accessories such as external microphones or lights. A standard tripod mount is located on the bottom for stable shooting.
