Connections

The R-10SW offers both Line Level (RCA) and LFE (Low-Frequency Effects) inputs for connection to your receiver or amplifier.

Operating Your Subwoofer

Controls Overview

The R-10SW features several controls on its rear panel to fine-tune its performance:

• GAIN (Volume) Control: Adjusts the output level of the subwoofer. Start with this control at about half-way and adjust to blend with your main speakers.
• LOW-PASS (Crossover) Control: Determines the highest frequency the subwoofer will reproduce. Set this based on the low-frequency capabilities of your main speakers. A common starting point is 80Hz for most bookshelf or smaller floor-standing speakers. If using the LFE input, this control is typically bypassed, and the crossover is managed by your receiver.
• PHASE Switch (0°/180°): Adjusts the phase of the subwoofer's output relative to your main speakers. Flip between 0° and 180° to find the setting that provides the most impactful and seamless bass at your listening position.
• POWER Switch (ON/AUTO/OFF):
  • ON: The subwoofer remains continuously on.
  • AUTO: The subwoofer automatically turns on when an audio signal is detected and enters standby mode after a period of inactivity.
  • OFF: The subwoofer is powered off.

Initial Setup and Tuning

1. Connect the subwoofer to your receiver/amplifier as described in the "Connections" section.
2. Set the GAIN control to its minimum (fully counter-clockwise).
3. Set the LOW-PASS crossover to the recommended setting for your main speakers (e.g., 80Hz). If using LFE, set your receiver's subwoofer crossover.
4. Set the PHASE switch to 0°.
5. Set the POWER switch to AUTO.
6. Play some familiar music or movie content with strong bass.
7. Slowly increase the GAIN control until the subwoofer's bass output blends smoothly with your main speakers. The goal is to enhance the low end, not to overpower the sound.
8. Experiment with the PHASE switch (0° vs. 180°). Choose the setting that provides the most coherent and impactful bass.
9. Further fine-tune the LOW-PASS crossover if necessary to achieve the best blend.
