4.1. Pre-Installation

  1. Shut off Water Supply: Locate the main water shut-off valve for your home and turn it off. Open nearby faucets to drain any remaining water from the pipes.
  2. Prepare Wall Opening: Ensure the wall opening for the valve body is appropriately sized and clear of debris.

4.2. Valve Body Installation

  1. Position the valve body within the wall opening, ensuring it is level and at the correct depth for the finished wall surface.
  2. Connect the hot and cold water supply lines to the 1/2" IP union inlets on the valve body. Use appropriate plumbing tape or sealant on threaded connections.
  3. Connect the shower riser pipe and tub spout drop pipe to the corresponding outlets on the valve body.
  4. Secure the valve body to the wall framing using appropriate mounting hardware.

4.3. Handle and Trim Installation

  1. Install the escutcheons (trim plates) over the valve stems and secure them to the wall.
  2. Attach the canopy handles to the valve stems. Ensure they are oriented correctly for hot, cold, and diverter functions.

The Central Brass 0968-Z features a three-handle design for precise control of water temperature and flow.

  • Left Handle: Controls the hot water flow. Turn counter-clockwise to increase hot water.
  • Right Handle: Controls the cold water flow. Turn counter-clockwise to increase cold water.
  • Center Handle (Diverter): Directs water flow between the tub spout and the shower head. Turn to engage the desired outlet.

Adjust the hot and cold handles to achieve your desired water temperature and flow rate.

6. Maintenance

6.1. Cleaning

  • Clean the chrome finish with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Avoid abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, or scouring pads, as these can damage the finish.
  • For stubborn water spots, use a mild soap solution and rinse thoroughly.

Over time, the replaceable seats and stems may wear out, leading to drips or leaks. To replace them:

  1. Shut off the main water supply.
  2. Remove the handle and escutcheon for the affected valve.
  3. Using a wrench, carefully unscrew and remove the old stem assembly.
  4. Remove the old seat from the valve body using a seat wrench.
  5. Install the new seat, ensuring it is properly seated.
