Cleaning and Maintenance

Daily Cleaning

Always unplug the appliance and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.

  • Remove the filter basket and discard the paper filter and coffee grounds. Wash the filter basket, carafe, and carafe lid in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. These parts are also top-rack dishwasher safe.
  • Wipe the exterior surfaces of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
  • Do not immerse the coffee maker in water or any other liquid.

Descaling (Self-Cleaning Function)

Mineral deposits from water can build up in your coffee maker and affect its performance. Regular descaling is recommended, especially in hard water areas. The Buckingham coffee maker features an automatic self-cleaning function.

  1. Ensure the coffee maker is empty and cool.
  2. Fill the water reservoir to the "MAX" level with a descaling solution (e.g., white vinegar and water in a 1:2 ratio, or a commercial descaler as per product instructions).
  3. Place an empty paper filter (or permanent filter) in the filter basket.

  6. The cycle will pause periodically to allow the descaling solution to work.
  7. Once the cycle is complete, the indicator light will turn off. Discard the descaling solution from the carafe.
