Maintenance

Battery Replacement

The Logitech M317 boasts a long-lasting battery life of up to 12 months. When the battery needs replacement, follow the battery installation steps in the Setup section.

Cleaning

To ensure optimal performance and hygiene, regularly clean your mouse:

  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water or an electronics-safe cleaning solution.
  • Wipe down the exterior of the mouse.
  • For the optical sensor on the bottom, use a dry cotton swab to gently remove any dust or debris.
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as these can damage the mouse's surface.

Troubleshooting

Mouse Not Responding

  • Check Battery: Ensure the AA battery is correctly installed and has sufficient charge. Replace if necessary.
  • Check Power Switch: Make sure the On/Off switch on the bottom of the mouse is in the "On" position.
  • Check USB Receiver: Verify that the USB nano receiver is securely plugged into a working USB port on your computer. Try a different USB port if available.
  • Re-pair: In rare cases, you might need to re-pair the mouse with the receiver. Consult the Logitech support website for specific instructions for your model if automatic connection fails.

Erratic Cursor Movement

  • Clean Sensor: Dust or debris on the optical sensor can cause erratic movement. Clean the sensor as described in the Maintenance section.
  • Surface: Ensure you are using the mouse on a suitable surface. Highly reflective or transparent surfaces may interfere with optical tracking. Try a mouse pad or a different surface.
  • Interference: Other wireless devices operating on the 2.4 GHz frequency might cause interference. Try moving the mouse closer to the receiver or moving other wireless devices away.
