- Mount the HX850i power supply into your PC case using the provided mounting screws. Ensure the fan is oriented correctly for optimal airflow (typically facing downwards if your case has a bottom vent, or upwards if not).
- Connect the 24-pin ATX cable to the corresponding port on the power supply and your motherboard.
- Connect the 4+4 pin CPU (EPS) cable(s) to the power supply and your motherboard.
- Connect the 6+2 pin PCIe cables to the power supply and your graphics card(s) as required.
- Connect SATA and Peripheral cables for your storage drives and other components.

3.3 Compatibility
The HX850i is compatible with 4th generation Intel Core processors (Intel Haswell and Z87 motherboards) and adheres to ATX12V v2.4 and EPS 2.92 standards. It is backward compatible with ATX12V 2.2, 2.31, and ATX12V 2.01 systems.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Powering On
After all cables are securely connected, plug the AC power cord into the power supply and a wall outlet. Flip the power switch on the rear of the power supply to the 'ON' position.
4.2 Efficiency and Cooling
The HX850i is 80 PLUS Platinum certified, ensuring high energy efficiency and reduced heat generation. It features a Zero RPM Fan Mode, meaning the fan will not spin at low to medium loads, resulting in virtually silent operation. The fan will automatically activate when the load increases to maintain optimal temperatures.
4.3 Corsair Link Digital Monitoring
Utilize the Corsair iCUE software to monitor various aspects of your power supply's performance, including:
- Power consumption and output
- Fan speed (RPM)
- Internal PSU temperature
- Calculated efficiency
- Toggle between single rail or multi rail mode (advanced users)
A fan test button is located on the power supply unit. Pressing this button will momentarily spin the fan to confirm its functionality.
5. Maintenance
The CORSAIR HX850i is designed for long-term reliability with a Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) of 100,000 hours. Minimal maintenance is required.
- Dust Removal: Periodically inspect the power supply's fan intake and exhaust vents for dust accumulation. Use compressed air to gently clear any dust to ensure proper airflow and cooling. Ensure the system is powered off and unplugged before cleaning.
- Cable Management: Ensure cables are neatly routed and not obstructing airflow within the PC case.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your HX850i power supply, consider the following troubleshooting steps:
- No Power:
- Ensure the AC power cord is securely connected to both the power supply and the wall outlet.
- Verify the power switch on the rear of the PSU is in the 'ON' position.
- Check all modular cable connections to the power supply and components (motherboard, GPU, etc.) are firm and fully seated.
- Fan Not Spinning:
- The HX850i features Zero RPM Fan Mode. The fan will not spin at low loads. This is normal operation.
- To test the fan, press the fan test button on the power supply unit. The fan should spin briefly.
- If the fan never spins even under high load, or the test button does not activate it, contact Corsair support.
- System Instability/Crashes:
- Ensure your system's power requirements do not exceed the 850W capacity of the PSU.
- Check for loose cable connections.
- Monitor power supply performance using Corsair iCUE software for any anomalies.
- Corsair Link/iCUE Not Detecting PSU:
- Ensure the internal USB cable is correctly connected from the PSU to your motherboard's USB 2.0 header.
- Try a different USB 2.0 header if available.
- Ensure you have the latest version of Corsair iCUE software installed.
- Restart your computer.
