4. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to properly install your CORSAIR HX750i power supply into your computer system.

4.1 Physical Installation

  1. Prepare your PC Case: Ensure your PC case is powered off and unplugged from the wall outlet. Open the side panel of your PC case.
  2. Mount the Power Supply: Carefully slide the HX750i into the power supply bay of your PC case. Ensure the fan is facing the correct direction (typically downwards if your case has a bottom vent, or upwards if it's a top-mounted PSU with no bottom vent). Secure the power supply to the case using the provided mounting screws.

  1. 24-pin ATX Motherboard Cable: Connect the large 24-pin cable from the power supply to the corresponding port on your motherboard.
  2. 8-pin EPS/ATX 12V CPU Cable: Connect the 8-pin (or 4+4 pin) CPU power cable to the CPU power connector(s) on your motherboard. High-end motherboards may require two such connectors.
  3. PCIe Cables: For graphics cards, connect the appropriate 6+2 pin PCIe power cables. Ensure your graphics card receives all necessary power connections.
  4. SATA Power Cables: Connect SATA power cables to your storage drives (SSDs, HDDs) and other SATA-powered devices.
  5. Peripheral (Molex) Cables: Use these for older peripherals or case fans that require Molex connectors.
  6. CORSAIR Link USB Cable: Connect the smaller end of the CORSAIR Link USB cable to the designated port on the power supply and the other end to an available USB 2.0 header on your motherboard. This enables digital monitoring and control via CORSAIR Link software.

Ensure all connections are firm and secure. Route cables neatly to improve airflow and aesthetics within your PC case.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Initial Power On

  1. After all components are connected, plug the AC power cord into the power supply and then into a wall outlet.
  2. Flip the power switch on the back of the power supply to the "ON" position (usually marked with a "I").
  3. Power on your computer using the case's power button.

5.2 Zero RPM Fan Mode

The HX750i features a Zero RPM Fan Mode. This means the power supply fan will not spin at low to moderate loads, resulting in virtually silent operation. The fan will automatically activate when the power supply reaches a certain temperature or load threshold to maintain optimal cooling. This is normal operation and does not indicate a fault.

5.3 CORSAIR Link Digital Support

The HX750i is compatible with CORSAIR Link software, allowing you to monitor and control various aspects of your power supply directly from your desktop.

  • Software Installation: Download and install the latest CORSAIR Link software from the official CORSAIR website.
  • Monitoring: Monitor power supply performance metrics such as input/output wattage, efficiency, temperature, and fan speed.
  • Fan Control: Adjust fan speed profiles or set custom curves.
  • Single Rail / Multi-Rail Mode: Toggle between single 12V rail mode (delivering full power on a single rail) and multi 12V rail mode (distributing power across multiple virtual rails with OCP protection). Refer to the CORSAIR Link software documentation for detailed instructions on this feature.

6. Maintenance

The CORSAIR HX750i power supply is designed for long-term reliability with minimal maintenance.

  • Cleaning: Periodically inspect the power supply's fan grille and ventilation openings for dust accumulation. Use compressed air to gently clear any dust. Ensure the power supply is unplugged from the wall outlet before cleaning.
  • Cable Management: Ensure cables are not obstructing airflow within the PC case.
  • Environmental Conditions: Maintain a clean, dry, and well-ventilated environment for your computer system.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your HX750i power supply, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Power supply does not turn on.
  • AC power cord not connected.
  • Power switch is OFF.
  • Loose cable connections.
  • Faulty component in PC.
  • Ensure AC power cord is securely plugged into the PSU and wall outlet.
  • Flip the power switch to the "ON" (I) position.
  • Check all modular cable connections (24-pin, CPU, PCIe) are seated firmly.
  • Test the power supply with minimal components (motherboard, CPU, RAM) to isolate the issue.
Fan is not spinning.
  • Zero RPM Fan Mode is active.
  • Low system load/temperature.
  • This is normal operation. The fan will spin up under higher loads or temperatures.
  • Monitor PSU temperature and fan speed via CORSAIR Link software.
System instability or crashes.
  • Insufficient power delivery.
  • Overclocking instability.
  • Faulty components.
  • Ensure your system's power requirements do not exceed the PSU's capacity.
  • Reset any overclocking settings.
  • Test components individually if possible.

If the problem persists after attempting these steps, please contact CORSAIR customer support.
