4. Preparation

4.1 Tools and Materials Required

• Spray bottle with slip solution (water with a few drops of baby shampoo or tint mounting solution)
• Squeegee (rubber or plastic)
• Utility knife or razor blade
• Lint-free cloths or paper towels
• Glass cleaner (ammonia-free)
• Measuring tape and straight edge
• Heat gun (optional, for curved surfaces or drying)

4.2 Surface Cleaning

Thoroughly clean the glass surface to remove all dirt, dust, grease, and debris. Any contaminants left on the glass will be trapped under the film and visible.

1. Spray the glass generously with ammonia-free glass cleaner.
2. Scrub the entire surface, paying close attention to edges and corners.
3. Use a squeegee to remove the cleaning solution, wiping the squeegee blade clean after each pass.
4. Repeat the cleaning process until the glass is spotless.
5. For automotive windows, clean both the inside and outside of the glass.

4.3 Measuring and Cutting the Film

Measure the glass surface accurately. It is recommended to cut the film slightly larger than the window (e.g., 1-2 inches extra on all sides) to allow for trimming.

1. Measure the height and width of the window.
2. Unroll the film on a clean, flat surface.
3. Using your measurements, cut the film to size, adding the extra margin.
4. For automotive windows, you may need to pre-shrink the film on the outside of the window using a heat gun before final cutting and installation.

5. Installation

Follow these steps carefully for optimal adhesion and finish.

1. Prepare Slip Solution: Fill a spray bottle with water and add a few drops of baby shampoo or a dedicated tint mounting solution. Shake well.
2. Wet the Glass: Liberally spray the entire clean glass surface with the slip solution. Ensure it is thoroughly wet.
3. Remove Liner: Carefully peel the clear protective liner from the adhesive side of the tint film. As you peel, spray the exposed adhesive side of the film with the slip solution to prevent it from sticking to itself and to keep it lubricated.
4. Apply Film to Glass: With the adhesive side wet, carefully position the film onto the wet glass. The slip solution will allow you to slide and reposition the film until it is perfectly aligned.
5. Squeegee Out Solution: Once the film is in place, begin squeegeeing from the center outwards, applying firm, even pressure. This pushes the slip solution and any air bubbles out from under the film. Overlap your squeegee strokes.
6. Trim Excess Film: Using a sharp utility knife or razor blade and a straight edge, carefully trim any excess film around the edges of the window. For automotive windows, trim precisely along the window frame or gasket.
7. Final Squeegee: Perform a final, thorough squeegee pass over the entire film surface to ensure all remaining water and air bubbles are removed. Pay extra attention to the edges to ensure proper adhesion.

6. Post-Installation Care (Operating)

After installation, the film requires a curing period for the adhesive to fully bond to the glass.

• Curing Time: Allow 3-5 days for the film to fully cure. In colder climates or humid conditions, this may take longer (up to 2-3 weeks). During this time, it is normal to see some haziness, streaks, or small water pockets. These will dissipate as the film dries.
• Avoid Rolling Down Windows (Automotive): Do not roll down automotive windows for at least 3-5 days after installation to prevent the film from peeling at the edges.
• Do Not Clean Immediately: Avoid cleaning the tinted surface for at least 7 days after installation.
