Introduction
The ATS Senior Life Guardian is a personal emergency response system designed to provide peace of mind and maintain independence. This system allows users to quickly and easily contact pre-programmed individuals or emergency services with the press of a button, without incurring monthly monitoring fees. It features a base unit with a telephone and a portable, waterproof panic button.

Description: The ATS Senior Life Guardian system includes a main base unit, which functions as a telephone with a large keypad and display, and a portable, waterproof panic button. The base unit features a handset, a numeric keypad with large buttons, dedicated SOS, M1, and 911 emergency buttons, and a speakerphone. The panic button is compact, red, and designed to be worn, allowing for activation of emergency calls from a distance.

Setup
- Unpack Components: Carefully remove all items from the packaging.
- Install Backup Batteries (Base Unit): Open the battery compartment on the base unit and insert four (4) AA alkaline batteries (not included). These provide up to 12 hours of backup power during outages.
- Connect Power Adapter: Plug the DC 9V 300mA power adapter into the base unit's power input jack, then plug the adapter into a standard electrical outlet.
- Connect Telephone Line: Plug one end of a standard telephone cord (not included) into the 'LINE' jack on the base unit and the other end into your wall telephone jack.
- Panic Button Battery: The 23A 12V alkaline battery for the panic button is pre-installed. Ensure the plastic pull tab (if present) is removed to activate the battery.
- Initial Programming: Refer to the detailed programming instructions in the 'Operating Instructions' section to set up emergency contacts and personalized messages. Ensure the 'PRO' (program) switch on the base unit is in the 'ON' position during programming and 'OFF' when programming is complete to prevent accidental changes.
Operating Instructions
Making an Emergency Call
- Using the Panic Button: Press and hold the red button on the waterproof panic button for approximately 2 seconds. The base unit will begin dialing the pre-programmed emergency numbers sequentially and play your personalized emergency message.
- Using Base Unit Buttons: Press the SOS, M1, or 911 button on the base unit. These buttons are pre-assigned for emergency dialing.
Two-Way Communication
Once an emergency call is answered by one of your contacts, they can press '0' on their phone to open two-way communication through the base unit's built-in speakerphone. You can speak and listen from several rooms away from the base unit.
Answering Incoming Calls
To answer an incoming call through the speakerphone, simply press the panic button once. This will activate the speakerphone function on the base unit.
Phonebook and Memory Functions
- Phonebook: The base unit has a built-in phonebook with memory for up to 30 contacts. Refer to the detailed programming guide for adding, editing, and deleting entries.
- Message Memories: The system supports up to 64 message memories for personalized emergency messages.
Caller ID and Talking Features
The system features FSK/DTMF emergency talking caller ID. When a call comes in, the system will audibly speak the incoming phone number. It also displays 16 digits of name display on the LCD.
Volume and Display Controls
- Handset Volume: Adjust the volume of the handset using the dedicated control.
- Speakerphone Volume: Use the slide control to set the speakerphone volume up to 40dB.
- Ringer Volume: Control the ringer volume, which can be amplified up to 90dB. A flashing light also indicates an incoming call.
- LCD Backlight: The LCD features a backlight for visibility in low light conditions.
- LCD Contrast: Adjust the LCD contrast with 5 selectable levels.

Maintenance

- Battery Replacement (Panic Button): The panic button uses one 23A 12V alkaline battery. If the panic button's range or responsiveness decreases, replace its battery.
- Cleaning: Clean the base unit and panic button with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the base unit in water. The panic button is waterproof and can be worn in the shower or bath.
- Storage: Store the unit in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when not in use for extended periods.
Troubleshooting
