Setup Guide

1. Placement for Optimal Signal

Before setup, identify an ideal location for the RE200. It should be placed between your router and the Wi-Fi dead zone. The smart signal indicator on the extender will help you find the best spot. A blue light indicates a good connection, while a red light suggests the extender is too far from the router.

2. WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) Method

  1. Plug the RE200 into an electrical outlet near your router.
  2. Press the WPS button on your router.
  3. Within two minutes, press the RE (Range Extender) button on the RE200. The Signal LED should turn solid blue, indicating a successful connection.

3. Manual Setup (via Web Browser)

If your router does not support WPS, or if you prefer manual configuration:

  1. Plug the RE200 into an electrical outlet.
  2. Connect your computer or mobile device to the RE200's Wi-Fi network (e.g., "TP-Link_Extender").
  3. Open a web browser and go to http://tplinkrepeater.net or http://192.168.0.254.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to create a login password and select your host Wi-Fi network to extend.

Operating the Extender

Once set up, the RE200 will automatically extend your Wi-Fi network. Devices can connect to the extended network using the same Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password as your main router, or a new SSID if configured during manual setup.

Maintenance

  • Ventilation: Ensure the extender is placed in a well-ventilated area and its vents are not obstructed.
  • Power Cycle: If you experience connectivity issues, try unplugging the extender for 10 seconds and then plugging it back in.

Troubleshooting

No Signal or Weak Signal

  • Relocate the Extender: Use the Signal LED on the extender to find a better location. A blue light indicates a strong connection to the router.
  • Check Router Connection: Ensure your main router is functioning correctly and broadcasting a strong Wi-Fi signal.
  • Re-configure: If issues persist, try re-configuring the extender using either the WPS method or the web browser method.

Cannot Access Web Management Page

  • Ensure your device is connected to the extender's Wi-Fi network.
  • Verify that http://tplinkrepeater.net or http://192.168.0.254 is typed correctly in the browser's address bar.
  • Try a different web browser.
