Introduction

The Zipato Zipabox Back Up Module (model zbm.backup) is designed to provide uninterruptible power to your Zipabox main unit during power outages. This expansion module integrates a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery, ensuring your smart home system remains operational for up to 24 hours. It also features a USB port for 3G data backup and a built-in tamper sensor for enhanced security, alerting you to any shocks or vibrations.

Setup and Installation

The Zipabox Back Up Module is designed for easy, plug-and-play installation with your Zipabox main unit.

Operating the Module

Power Autonomy

Once installed, the Back Up Module automatically provides power to your Zipabox main unit in the event of a power outage. The integrated 3300 mAh Li-ion battery can sustain the Zipabox for up to 24 hours, depending on the load and configuration of your system.

Battery Status Indicator

The module includes a color light indicator to display the battery status:

• Solid Green: Battery fully charged.
• Flashing Green: Battery charging.
• Solid Red: Low battery.
• Off: No power or module not functioning.

3G Data Backup

The USB port on the module is designed for 3G data backup. To utilize this feature, connect a compatible 3G USB modem (not included) to the USB port. Ensure your Zipabox firmware and configuration support 3G backup functionality. This provides an alternative internet connection for your Zipabox during main network outages.

Tamper Sensor

The built-in tamper sensor detects shocks and vibrations. If the module is tampered with or forcibly removed, the Zipabox system will be alerted, allowing for configured security responses (e.g., sending notifications).

Maintenance
