1. Introduction

2. Setup and Installation

The ML55-12 battery is designed for easy installation. It comes with the necessary nuts and bolts for terminal connections.

2.1 Unboxing and Inspection

Upon receiving your battery, carefully open the packaging and inspect the battery for any signs of damage. The package should include the battery and a small bag containing nuts and bolts for the terminals. Foam inserts are used to protect the battery during transit.

2.2 Terminal Connection

The ML55-12 battery uses Nut and Bolt (NB) terminals. When connecting cables to the battery terminals, ensure a secure connection to prevent power loss and potential damage.

  • Connect the positive (+) cable to the positive terminal and the negative (-) cable to the negative terminal.
  • Use the provided nuts and bolts to secure the cable lugs to the terminals.
  • Important: When tightening terminal nuts and fasteners, apply a torque of 14.5 to 19 N.m. This is recommended for 12V 50Ah and above batteries. Ensure cables are bolted tightly so they do not come loose. Failure to do so could result in damaged terminals, hazardous conditions, and void of warranty.

2.3 Initial Charging

Although batteries often arrive partially charged, it is recommended to fully charge the battery before its first use to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Use a compatible 12V battery charger.

3. Operating Instructions

  • Cycle Use: Maintain a voltage between 14.6 - 14.8 V. The initial current should be less than 16.5 A.

Always use a charger compatible with SLA/AGM batteries and ensure it provides the correct voltage and current for the application.

4. Maintenance

The ML55-12 is a maintenance-free battery, meaning it does not require electrolyte top-ups. However, proper care ensures its longevity.

  • Keep the battery terminals clean and free from corrosion.
  • Ensure the battery is fully charged before storage and periodically recharged during long periods of inactivity to prevent deep discharge.

4.1 Storage Temperature
