Smart Sensor AR63B Digital Precision Vibration Meter User Manual
Model: AR63B
1. Introduction
The Smart Sensor AR63B Digital Precision Vibration Meter is a sophisticated instrument designed for accurate measurement of vibration parameters. It utilizes a Piezoelectric Acceleration Transducer to convert vibration signals into electrical signals, which are then analyzed to display acceleration, velocity, and displacement of the vibration. This device is widely applied in various industries including power, petrochemical, machinery manufacturing, metallurgy, and automotive sectors.
This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your AR63B Vibration Meter to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
2. Package Contents

3. Safety Information
Please read and understand all safety warnings and operating instructions before using this instrument. Failure to do so may result in injury or damage to the instrument.
- Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the instrument. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
- Ensure the battery is inserted with correct polarity. Remove the battery if the instrument will not be used for an extended period.
- Avoid exposing the instrument to extreme temperatures, high humidity, or corrosive environments.
- Do not apply excessive force to the transducer or probes, as this may damage the sensor.
- Keep the instrument away from strong electromagnetic fields, which may affect measurement accuracy.
- Always clean the instrument with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
4. Setup
4.1 Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the AR63B unit.
- Slide or unclip the cover to open the compartment.
- Insert a new 9V DC battery, ensuring correct polarity (+ and - terminals match the markings inside the compartment).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
4.2 Transducer Connection
- Connect the cable from the Piezoelectric Acceleration Transducer to the input port on the top of the AR63B main unit. Ensure a firm connection.
- Attach the desired probe (long or short) or the magnetic base to the tip of the transducer, depending on the measurement surface and accessibility.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Powering On/Off
Press the POWER button to turn the unit on. The display will illuminate. The unit features an auto power-off function to conserve battery life if inactive for a set period.
5.2 Measurement Modes
The AR63B can measure three primary vibration parameters:
- Acceleration (m/s²): Measures the rate of change of velocity.
- Velocity (m/s): Measures the speed of vibration.
- Displacement (mm): Measures the peak-to-peak movement of the vibrating object.
Use the mode selection buttons (e.g., ACCEL, VELO, DISP) on the front panel to switch between these measurement modes.
5.3 Frequency Range Selection
For Acceleration measurements, you can select between two frequency ranges:
- LO (10Hz~1KHz): For general low-frequency vibration analysis.
- HI (1KHz~15KHz): For high-frequency vibration analysis, often associated with bearing faults or gear mesh frequencies.
Refer to the unit's display or specific buttons for frequency range selection.
5.4 Taking Measurements
- Ensure the transducer is securely connected to the main unit.
- Select the desired measurement mode (Acceleration, Velocity, or Displacement).
- If measuring acceleration, select the appropriate frequency range (LO or HI).
- Firmly place the transducer's probe or magnetic base onto the surface of the object you wish to measure. Ensure good contact for accurate readings.
- Read the vibration value displayed on the LCD screen. The unit will continuously update the reading.
- The unit may also feature a temperature measurement function, indicated by a dedicated symbol or mode.
5.5 Backlight Function
The AR63B is equipped with a backlight for improved visibility in low-light conditions. Press the LIGHT button (or equivalent) to activate or deactivate the backlight.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
Wipe the instrument's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or immerse the unit in water.
6.2 Battery Replacement
When the battery indicator on the display shows low power, replace the 9V DC battery as described in Section 4.1. Always dispose of used batteries responsibly according to local regulations.
6.3 Storage
When not in use, store the AR63B and its accessories in the provided aluminum carrying case. Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Remove the battery if storing for extended periods to prevent leakage.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Unit does not power on. | Battery is dead or incorrectly installed. | Replace the 9V battery or check its polarity. |
| No vibration reading displayed. | Transducer not connected properly or damaged. Poor contact with the measurement surface. Unit malfunction. | Ensure transducer cable is firmly connected. Apply firm and stable contact with the surface. If problem persists, contact customer support. |
| Inaccurate or fluctuating readings. | Loose transducer connection. External electromagnetic interference. Incorrect frequency range selected (for acceleration). | Check transducer connection. Move away from strong electrical devices. Verify the correct LO/HI frequency range is selected. |
| Display is dim or flickering. | Low battery. | Replace the 9V battery. |
