4. Setup and Installation

4.1 Power Connection

The control desk requires an AC power source (18 V). Connect the power supply to the connectors located on the back of the unit. If using a switching power supply (LGB 51090 or 51985), the LGB 60130 converter is also required for proper operation.

4.2 Accessory Connection

Connect your LGB electric switches, signals, or decoupling tracks to the corresponding terminals on the back of the control desk. The connectors are color-coded to simplify the wiring process. Each momentary rocker switch on the front panel corresponds to one accessory item.

Use the provided stickers to clearly identify the assignment of each switch to its respective accessory for easy reference during operation.

Figure 2: This diagram illustrates the connection of the LGB 51755 Control Desk to a signal and a power source. It shows the control desk (labeled 51755) connected to a signal unit, which in turn is connected to a track section. The power supply connections (labeled 3 and 4) indicate the use of a switching power supply (LGB 51090 + 60130 or LGB 51095 + 60130).

4.3 Mounting (Optional)

Up to four LGB 51755 Control Desks can be mounted onto an LGB transformer housing. This allows for a centralized control point for expanding railway systems.

5. Operation

Once properly connected and powered, the green LED indicator on the control desk will illuminate, confirming that the unit is receiving power.

To operate an accessory, simply press the corresponding momentary rocker switch. Each switch sends a momentary electrical impulse to activate or change the state of the connected accessory (e.g., switching a turnout, activating a signal).

6. Maintenance

The LGB 51755 Control Desk is designed for durability. To ensure its longevity and proper function:

  • Keep the unit clean and free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Avoid exposing the control desk to extreme temperatures or direct moisture for extended periods, although it is designed for outdoor use.
  • Regularly check all connections to ensure they are secure.

7. Troubleshooting

7.1 No Power Indication (LED Off)

  • Check Power Source: Ensure the 18 V AC power source is active and properly connected to the control desk.
  • Verify Converter: If using a switching power supply (51090 or 51985), confirm that the LGB 60130 converter is correctly installed and functioning.
  • Inspect Connections: Ensure all power cables are securely plugged into the control desk and the power supply.

7.2 Accessory Not Responding

  • Check Accessory Connection: Verify that the accessory (switch, signal, etc.) is correctly wired to the control desk and that the connections are secure.
  • Test Accessory Independently: If possible, test the accessory directly with a known working power source to rule out an issue with the accessory itself.
  • Confirm Power to Control Desk: Ensure the green LED on the control desk is illuminated, indicating it is receiving power.
