3. Setup
3.1 Attaching the Head to a Tripod
- Ensure your tripod has a 3/8" mounting screw.
- Align the 3/8" female thread at the base of the XPRO 3-Way Head with the tripod's mounting screw.
- Rotate the head clockwise until it is securely fastened to the tripod. Do not overtighten.
3.2 Mounting Your Camera
- Locate the quick release plate (type 200PL) on the XPRO 3-Way Head.
- Ensure the quick release lever is in the open position.
- Attach the quick release plate to the base of your camera using the 1/4-20" screw. Tighten securely.
- Slide the camera with the attached quick release plate into the head's receiver.
- Engage the quick release lever to lock the camera in place. Verify the secondary safety system is engaged to prevent accidental release.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Extending and Retracting Levers
The XPRO 3-Way Head features retractable levers for enhanced portability.
- To Extend: Pull the lever outwards from the head until it clicks into its extended position.
- To Retract: Push the lever inwards towards the head until it folds compactly.

4.2 Adjusting Camera Position (Pan, Tilt, Portrait)
Each axis (pan, tilt, portrait) has an independent lever and friction control.
- Unlock: Loosen the locking knob for the desired axis by rotating it counter-clockwise.
- Adjust Friction: Use the friction control knob (marked "FRICTION") to set the desired resistance. This allows for smooth, controlled movement and helps balance the camera's weight.
- Position Camera: Use the corresponding lever to move the camera to the desired position.
- Pan: Horizontal rotation (360 degrees).
- Front Tilt: Vertical tilt (-30° / +90°).
- Lateral Tilt (Portrait): Side-to-side tilt (-30° / +90°).
- Lock: Once the camera is in position, tighten the locking knob clockwise to secure it.

4.3 Using Leveling Bubbles
The three integrated leveling bubbles assist in achieving precise horizontal and vertical alignment.
- Observe the bubbles to determine the camera's current level.
- Adjust the pan, tilt, and lateral tilt axes as needed until the bubbles are centered within their indicators.
- Lock the axes once the desired level is achieved.

5. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the head with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by immediate drying. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Lubrication: The head is designed for maintenance-free operation. Do not attempt to lubricate internal mechanisms, as this may impair performance.
- Storage: Store the head in a dry, dust-free environment. Retract the levers for compact storage.
- Inspection: Periodically check all screws and connections to ensure they are secure.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Camera not securely mounted. | Quick release plate not fully engaged or locking lever not secured. | Ensure the quick release plate is correctly seated and the locking lever is fully closed. Check the 1/4-20" screw on the plate is tight. |
| Head movement is too loose or too stiff. | Friction control not adjusted correctly. | Adjust the friction control knobs for each axis to achieve the desired resistance. |
| Camera not level despite adjustments. | Tripod legs are not level, or head is not securely attached to the tripod. | Ensure the tripod itself is stable and level. Re-check the head's attachment to the tripod. Use the leveling bubbles for fine adjustments. |
| Levers do not retract/extend smoothly. | Dust or debris in the mechanism. | Clean the lever mechanisms with a soft, dry cloth. Do not force movement. |
