3. Setup

3.1 Attaching the Head to a Tripod

  1. Ensure your tripod has a 3/8" mounting screw.
  2. Align the 3/8" female thread at the base of the XPRO 3-Way Head with the tripod's mounting screw.
  3. Rotate the head clockwise until it is securely fastened to the tripod. Do not overtighten.

3.2 Mounting Your Camera

  1. Locate the quick release plate (type 200PL) on the XPRO 3-Way Head.
  2. Ensure the quick release lever is in the open position.
  3. Attach the quick release plate to the base of your camera using the 1/4-20" screw. Tighten securely.
  4. Slide the camera with the attached quick release plate into the head's receiver.
  5. Engage the quick release lever to lock the camera in place. Verify the secondary safety system is engaged to prevent accidental release.

4.2 Adjusting Camera Position (Pan, Tilt, Portrait)

Each axis (pan, tilt, portrait) has an independent lever and friction control.

  1. Unlock: Loosen the locking knob for the desired axis by rotating it counter-clockwise.
  2. Adjust Friction: Use the friction control knob (marked "FRICTION") to set the desired resistance. This allows for smooth, controlled movement and helps balance the camera's weight.
  3. Position Camera: Use the corresponding lever to move the camera to the desired position.
    • Pan: Horizontal rotation (360 degrees).
    • Front Tilt: Vertical tilt (-30° / +90°).
    • Lateral Tilt (Portrait): Side-to-side tilt (-30° / +90°).
  4. Lock: Once the camera is in position, tighten the locking knob clockwise to secure it.
